Favourite Jaw Drop Moments in Games

So I tried not to read the posts of others in hopes that I might come up with moments that weren't influenced by them... but you hadda ruin it with Dom finding Maria in your OP... LOL

That doesn't really matter anyway, I'd have thought of that one and put it at the top of the list as well.

Another real jaw dropper (but wouldn't call it emotional) for me was Halo 3, when the flood approach Chief and Arbiter on the final approach to stop the rings firing. I expected to have to fight my way through both to get to the control panel... but never
once did I expect them to approach and speak "Stop! Do not shoot, but listen..." That one really caught me off guard. I know, weird considering all the things that happened throughout the series, but that one sticks out to me.

I'm not sure I'd call it a "moment" but the Mass Effect series was full of some pretty emotional decisions that had to be made, so the moment I had to make them would fit I guess. The one that sticks out the most was deciding whether to rewrite the Geth,
or destroy them. I agonized over that one. lol

 

Mass Effect two when I turned a corner and a cutscene showing me in the sights of a geth sniper that did not shoot.

 

GTA5. When you get high and get abducted by aliens then free fall back down.

Bioshock 1. Opening those big doors and walking down the stairs with Beyond The Sea playing then seeing Rapture for the first time.

The opening scene in The Last Of Us.

The Ending of Telltale The Walking Dead season 1.

Mass Effect suicide mission

Batman Arkham Asylum, when your tv goes static and you think something is wrong with your tv but then you are back at the beginning playing as the Joker captured the Batman and also all the scarecrow missions.

 

My oldest gaming moment was getting all excited shouting my family into my room to see the ending of fantastic dizzy on the zx spectrum

 

DWoodbine beat me to it, but Telltale TWD Season 1's ending, my jaw dropped and I think my heart may have came out and shattered into a million pieces.

CoD 4 - Ghillies in the mist, that whole mission was just a wow moment for me, loved it.

Far Cry 3 - A certain field and a flame thrower

The end of Bioshock Infinite

The end of Castlevania: Lords of Shadow

The end of Assassin's Creed: Revelations, the end of Ezio's and Altair's saga.

Mass Effect 3: When Liara surprised me in my room with a box that she was saving information on in case the reapers prevailed and she wanted to put an entry in about the last hero from Earth. I was actually so touched by that, she was also my lover in the
game so it was just like, I knew there was a reason I chose you, haha.

When Aerith/Aeris Died in Final Fantasy seven I literally couldn't sleep and when I did I had dreams about it.

Playing GTA3, when I 1st played I was certainly OM&G.

 

Some great moments! Cheers folks, a lot of the ones I had forgotten so great to be reminded!

 

How stunned was I when in Metroid it turned out Samus was a girl. An truly great moment for the younger me.

Finding out I could import my game of Shining Force III into the next part was a revelation to me. Followed by crushing disappointment when Sega of America decided not to bring parts 2 and 3 over.

Just two of my fondest gaming memories.

Finding out Cid was a Sanctum l'Cie, and that the fal'Cie Eden is pretty and like one of the good fal'Cie of Cocoon (Xbox 360).

 

The funniest achievement I've ever got on Xbox was camping in Halo 4 on Xbox 360. It would seem Microsoft encourages camping, cuz you get an achievement for it. I randomly recorded the video using my Hauppauge HD PVR2 and I'm glad I recorded that moment
so edited it and put on youtube.

Dude, I totally forgot about that.

 

Fight Night on Xbox 360 when I did my first knock out punch, screen goes all slow mo as you see your opponents face all contort and saliva go everywhere, as they then crumple to the canvas. I was living with parents at the time and frantically called my
dad up to show him (he came running up thinking something was wrong as I was clearly a bit over excited lol!!

Ending to Eternal Sonata, definitely has a tear in my eye!

The shear quantity of zombies on Dead Rising 3, as I scythed my way through them topping up kill counts in there 100's (big step up from Xbox 360 to Xbox 1).

Lets throw some Gears of War moments too, first use of Hammer of Dawn, and first time being introduced to Anya Stroud character and realising I needed to call my own daughter 'Anya' after her.

Glad to see people mentioning Batman Arkham Asylum as having some jaw dropping moments, as I've just bought it this week and will be playing for the first time later tonight.
