need some gamers opinions on BF4

BF4 on next gen systems is my favorite shooter to date.

 

A great DLC idea

Jungle environments are possibly my favorite type of environment for a shooter. Nice suggestion.

 

How could i forget Timesplitters as well.

 

I've played it, thought it was alright and wouldn't classify it as a shooter.

 

Childhood memories would say Goldeneye, that there was a very fun game that I was addicting to play.

Modern memories would say Halo 3 as that was my first online experience with a shooter, so it's going to be up there at the top as my favourite.

 

Exhumed/Powerslave on the Sega Saturn

 

I want to add Star Wars:Battlefront 1 and 2 to the list as well...a lot of good times happened playing this game during the couch co-op days.

I think RDR refers to Red Dead Revolver as apposed to Red Dead Redemption. Revolver was a shooter.

 

Wolfenstein, Doom, Goldeneye, Perfect Dark, Unreal Tournament, Half-Life, Counter-Strike, Day of Defeat, Team Fortress, Halo, Timesplitters, Call of Duty, Battlefield, Gears of War, & even Titanfall are all shooters that I have played & owned over the years
& that have left an indelible impression upon my life & has therefore helped cement the genre as my all-time favorite. Because of this, I absolutely refuse to do them the disservice of only choosing one.

 

Wolfenstein 3D. I was so pumped when it was released on 360 arcade.

Oh man, I've actually got Red Dead Revolver. Wonder if it's 360 compat? Gonna try

 

Doom for me. Has to be Doom. Scary, addictive and so moreish. There are some other fantastic shooters of course but that one just sings out to me the most.

 

Half-Life 1 (Opposing Force expansion included). All around best shooter ever. Very long, challenging single player with a lot of memorable events and sequences that you can't just shoot your way out of, semi-puzzles, etc. Very unique weapons like snarks
(little aliens that you can throw that will chase after people and bite them, but may turn on you when no one else is around), tau cannon, laser-guided RPG, even the teleport gun in OpFor that could self-teleport you or kill someone instantly by "teleporting
them off-world."

The multiplayer was epic. Some weapons could be used to propel you high into the air to jump onto roofs, escape someone with a close-range weapon, etc. The maps were ingenious with intricate designs and special triggers like a button flooding a room with
water to drown people, a nuke bunker that would blow up all the map outside the bunker, a tram cart running around the map that could be used for drive-bys, buttons to drop the floor out under someone running down a hallway to fall into toxic waste, just about
every Valve-created map had some unique feature to add to the already elaborate map design. No loadouts, you started with a pistol and crowbar and had to find your weapons or kill someone and take theirs. No regenerating health; if you were low you had to
grab small health boosts or use the healing stations which risked you getting killed while using.

You could run, strafe, and jump while shooting, no "stop, crouch, fire a burst, kill, move on" tactics. I had firefights last 30+ seconds that sometimes turned into retreats/ambushes, disengaging and dropping them into a vat of acid when they chased you,
etc. It was epic. Modern day shooters just don't compare.

Half-Life 2 wasn't as good because they conformed more to what I see nowadays like the mediocre map design like "house-and-open field outside" type maps, had very few imaginative weapons, most were standard machine guns, shotguns, pistols, etc. (no more
or at least VERY few experimental/alien weapons), spawning with powerhouse weapons like SMG and gravity gun, etc. Wasn't as good, HL1 still wins the crown for me, though HL2 is still fun here and there.
