    Faulty Xbox One S


    Hello there,

    I need help. My Xbox One S wont turn on, the light stays off, not even the faintest of blinks. I have tried a different power cable, ordered it from Amazon, but that too didn't work. I think I know what I need to do next, but need some advice from you lads.

    A little background : Couple of weeks ago, we had couple of thunderstorms. There was a power surge and yes, you guessed it - it ain't been working ever since. I tried to swap in a different surge protector
    but to no avail, in-fact I saw some smoke too and could clearly smell something burning. So I ordered online a new power cable, but it didn't work. I am now convinced its the power supply. Sending it back and waiting for a service order will just take too
    much time and make my light on my pockets, so my question to you is:

    1. Shall I order a new Power supply unit from Amazon and is it easy to install ( I saw a couple of videos, looks do-able) or should I send it for repair to the experts shelling out more $$$ than I will have to if I go in for the former option?

    2. Or maybe my Xbox has a completely different problem other than the Power supply that I don't know about?

    I recommend that you send in your console to be serviced.

    If you haven’t yet registered your device, follow the steps in Register (or unregister) your Xbox.

    If you've registered your device, sign in at Device services to see the device’s warranty status. If it’s within warranty, repairs are free. If your device
    is out of warranty, you’ll be charged a repair fee.

    If you saw smoke it could have been a few different things. It might have been the power supply or it could have partially melted the fan or any number of other internal parts.

    Try hard reseting the xbox by holding the xbox button down for ten second then unplugging it for 2 minutes

    Aye, gotcha. Unfortunately its out of warranty so I will be billed. I'll try to talk to Microsoft and reach a possible solution or maybe try to fix myself. If nothing works I'll just wait for the Xbox series X :)
