Faulty XBox One Disc Drive repair issue

I Bought my Xbox One through a program through my employer. Waited a week to get it in after purchase, unpacked it no problems, hooked it up, no problems, installed some apps, downloaded my free xbox live gold games, played a little with the games,
then went to install Wolfenstein and the drive began growling at me and wouldn't load the game, same result with blue rays and dvd's. Called the company I bought it through told to use my service warranty I bought, service warranty people told me it was a
defective unit and I needed to take it back to the store. The system was shipped to me from Best Buy in Ohio, I live in Arizona, called my local best buy and told it was a manufacturers problem, they would not exchange or repair it. Called Microsoft got repair
scheduled and shipped xbox to them 2 day air. I don't want to wait 3-6 weeks to get it back. I paid a lot for this unit and have not been able to enjoy it yet, but I'm stuck with it. HOW DO I EXPEDITE the service on this unit to get a working unit in my
hands in a decent time frame???

Hi Lucky Striker 2, If your Xbox is still in warranty you can fill out a request for repair and have it repaired free of charge because it sounds like the disc drive is faulty that is causing this issue. However you can try this Disc Drive Solution Guide
to see if it needs to be sent in for repair.

There is nothing you can do to speed up the service, but usually it takes 7 to 10 days to have a unit replaced.

Is there any way to find out why they replaced my entire console for a DVD disc drive problem. I was expecting a same unit repair. I spent several hours setting up my xbox one, installing Games for Gold games, etc. and now will have to start all over again
as well as waiting 2 weeks to get it back. All I want to know is why replace instead of repair?

 

Even if it may sound funny: because it's faster. If they start to repair, they'd have to check the whole unit, not only the drive. So to have an unit resend to you as fast as possible it's easier to exchange the whole unit and repair yours later and put
it on stock as refurbished.

 

Hey Bob, quick question for you. Is your console placed Vertical or Horizontal? I have found out some people have placed it vertically, and that is a no no

It's clearly stated by microsoft in the instructions how to place the One that its not allowed to placed it vertically.

But that's something not related to this thread somehow.
