Faulty Xbox controller.

I recently bought the Xbox one S and after a while found that the controller keeps on disconnecting from the console (while it's still on), I have to reboot the console a few times for it to eventually work properly, it's very annoying. I tried re-syncing
it many times and that doesn't help either. Is there something else I can do?

My guess is it's faulty then. Joy.cpl should show a controller if it's connected to the PC, regardless of whether it is a direct input or xinput controller.

I take it your USB ports are working okay?

Other than a faulty port or faulty controller, a damaged Windows install can occasionally break controller support.

My advice is to buy an official controller. If this works then this Power A controller must be faulty.

I would try updating your Xbox Controller. And then after trying to hard restart your console.

I would recommend checking the batteries in the controller. Also, try connecting your controller to
the console with a USB cable instead of wirelessly. Does the controller stay connected or does it still show it disconnecting?

have you tried a power cycle?

Press and hold the power button on your console for 10 seconds untill it shuts off.

Retry afterwards.

That fixed my issue in the past.
