    Faulty stereo headset can't be replaced even though it's only 5 months old?


    Can anyone explain why a faulty stereo headset isn't covered by a warranty when it was received 5 months ago? The reason given by support is that the xbox one console warranty has run out? Why would an accessory which wasn't part of the original bundle be
    linked to the console warranty?

    Headset not working

    My son has Xbox one for Xmas and got headset few weeks ago. It worked at first then didn't and even though it's been replaced the sound of chat and games is still coming through the TV. I have done the update, don't think headset is faulty but cannot figure
    out what else. Have tried rebooting, checking it's plugged in and the volume/mute on the headset. Any help would be fab and running out of options. Cheers

    Which headset did you buy?

    Contact the place you bought it from and tell them it's faulty you should be able to get it replaced under the warranty

    Stereo Headset warranty, replace

    I am also having the same problem with my Xbox One Stereo Headset. I try to select it via the service center but only the chat headset is selectable.

    My headset in only just over a month old and has been working but now the mic is not responding all the time.

    What do I have to do to get a repair/replacement.

    I tried every troubleshooting option possible from standard setting checks to resetting the console. The mute icon does not disappear even when the headset is not connected. (Headset is definitely working, tested elsewhere). After almost 1 hour of chat with
    incompetent Microsoft support team member, I could not convince the person that it is not the headset that's faulty. It is either the controller or the console.

    I will send one of the controllers back to Microsoft, see what happens... Hopefully I will get it back by next year...

    I have to admit that I am disgusted with the lack of Microsoft support in Australia and how slow it is to get Warranty support. It takes one month to get a faulty item repaired or replaced. I am so regretful for choosing Xbox over PS4.

    Only 5 months old unit, being played with probably about 2-3 hours a day maximum, and already falling apart. Shame on Microsoft...

    Xbox one s controller

    The Stereo Headset adapter uses the USB-like port next to the 3.5mm plug. So if only the 3.5 mm port is mechanically defective, the Stereo Adapter should work.

    If however, the "sound decoder" inside the controller is faulty, neither the 3.5mm plug nor the Stereo Headset adapter will work, and you will have to get your controller serviced.

    A hot mess of headset issues, misinformation, and self shipping costs.

    I can't speak to your experiences about replacing the headset but I did buy the Xbox one stereo headset that comes with the stereo adapter. It dropped $30 and works a lot better.

    I do have concerns with the wiring they decided on as it's similar to the default headset but maybe sale your headset on eBay (for parts) and try another headset of your choosing.

    The Xbox One stereo headset I bought a few months back had a faulty microphone.

    Just a word of warning.

    I ended up buying a cheap pair of Gioteck HC2's and they work great.
