    Faulty Standard Chat Headset


    I have had 3 mics over the past 2 years. Every single one has broken the same way, despite my serious attention to care and respect that I treat my accessories, controllers, discs and consoles with.

    I can hear in an xbox live party, but my speaking goes in and out in and out in and out. I have done all the troubleshooting and have spoken to support each time this occurs.

    Since I have been out of the "90 days warranty" all 3 times - xbox has refused to send me a new one and/or let me send them my mic to show them it is a defect. They simply REFUSE and there only advice is to buy another one.

    Until Microsoft listens to us and helps us with our issues, we the consumers should show them that we will not take it.

    DO NOT BUY MICROSOFT MICS - my friends have the same problems and strongly recommend other mics. Not buying a 4th mic... lol nearly $100 dollars down the drain now.

    hi there.

    Unfortunately, it does sound like the controller may be faulty.

    To test and be sure, can you do the following:

    • Test another controller with the console and headsets.
    • Test that controller on another console and with a USB connection.
    • Test a standard Xbox chat headset with the controller.

    Post back and let us know how those tests go!

    A standard xbox chat headset wont do game sounds you would need to upgrade to a Turtle beach or comparable headset

    The microphone does not work in any games nor does it work in party chats. The headset is the standard headset that comes with an xbox purchase.

    Hey there Grum!

    I can understand wanting to use your Astro headset, but right now we're trying to see if using the standard headset improves the volume of party chat. If so, then it looks like the issue lies with the Astro headsets being used with your Xbox One console.
