Faulty Digital Game

I recently purchased a digital version of an Xbox game i.e. Chernobylite. It is faulty, often crashing and losing saves and is so frustrating due to various issues that it is unplayable. I requested a refund and it was denied because I had played the game.

Just think about that for a moment please. Does that make sense? I'd had the game for 2 days when I requested the refund.

Perhaps I should have not played it and guessed that there would be issues and then requested a refund.

I will no longer purchase any future related Microsoft products so well done there. Your customer service model is a beacon of bad business sense, so again well done there.

I know that Microsoft will deflect my complaint towards the game developer but as this game was purchased through Microsoft Store that won't wash.

Anyway, I would warn anyone not to buy digital products from Microsoft.

Sorry about that. You should get in touch with the game developers as the game wasn't developed by Microsoft.

Thanks for that but I did reply and have not received an answer.

I just find it unacceptable that a refund is denied because a game has been played. How else would you find out that the game was unplayable?

I pity the poor Series S buyers.

I will never, never, ever purchase another Microsoft product again.

Unfortunately there's nothing that can be done about this. The Xbox's refund policy states that a game cannot be refund once it has been played. Except for special cases where the developer calls back the game (e.g. Cyberpunk).
