    Faulty controller replacement under warranty


    So, my controller has packed up 4 months after buying it, well i say packed up, the left analogue stick seems to have become unseated and it i press the stick in and rotate it, it seems to catch and crunch on something inside the pad.

    So, i contact customer support via web chat, 1 hour later after proving proof of purchase etc, i get told i have to send the pad to Germany at my own cost, then upto 14 days later i will receive a replacement! ****!

    This is the worst customer support i have EVER come accross, send back your faulty pad at my own cost! I think not, today i move to playstation 4!

    What i expect is a new one sent out to me, bearing in mind over 10 years and 1000 of pounds iv spent with xbox, then i send the bust one back at YOUR cost because its failed in YOUR warranty period.

    my xbox wont read discs

    If other game discs are unreadable, then most likely it’s the optical disc reader that is faulty. This is not something that you can fix it yourself, better contact the dealer where you bought it from and check if it is still under warranty. It requires some replacement.

    Odd controller issues.

    Faulty controller you need a replacement, Microsoft can replace it for you if you are in the 90 day warranty.

    Standard procedure for most companies...you pay to send it in, they pay to send it back.

    Not any companies iv delt with. Why would i pay to send something back thats faulty, if their product is faulty they should cover ALL of the cost, otherwise i would be out of pocket AND making me pay the postage to another country. Hideous!

    The warranty on controllers, at least here in the U.S. is 90 days. You stated, "So, my controller has packed up 4 months after buying it...", so it would appear they were being nice just making you pay a one way shipping charge.

  7. Depends on where you live.

    In the UK, you have an automatic 12 Guarantee on all electrical items. And a controller is covered by that.

    If it is faulty with the first 6 months, it is down to the manufacturer to prove that it isn't faulty, After 6 months it is down to the consumer. Either way, you should not have to contact Microsoft, Your ultimate destination is the retailer that you purchased
    it from. If you purchased it from Microsoft online direct, then you have to deal with them. But they still have to follow the rules of your Country.

    And if you are in the EU, you get a 2 Year Guarantee on all electrical items.

    So first of all, consult your countries Laws regarding buying of electrical goods, and use them appropriately.

    And as a side note....... If i have ever had a faulty item, i have never had to send one back to a retailer at my cost. I have always taken it to the retailer. And then they have got the reimbursement from the manufacture. That is the standard practice.

    I agree with this too. under NZ and Australian Law, companies must pay shipping for faulty warranty items. microsoft has offices in these countries and just like visitors into other countries everyone falls under those countries jurisdictions. microsoft
    is no exception. their terms of use do not override Law. The Law is above any contract.

    It would appear you have better consumer rights. Here in the U.S. there is usually a 15 day return policy on computers, tablets, video game consoles, etc.; after the 15 days you deal with the manufacturer. Wasn't always the case, but I would imagine it's
    because of some of the consumers (Idiots.) of my country. Lol. A few years ago I was waiting in the line to return something. The lady in front of me was "trying" to return a child's bicycle that obviously was run over by a car; by the damage...possibly a
    bulldozer. Watching this lady flip out, screaming that she, "Bought it this WAY!", and just generally being a obnoxious twit, both saddened and amused me. I could never work in retail. Lol.
