    Far Cry Primal: First Impressions

So for those who are wondering what to make of this latest offering from the guys at Ubisoft here are some "first impressions"* after just over an hour's play.

Can "Far Cry: Primal" stand the test of time... or rather the step back... make that giant leap backwards in time to the year 10 000 B.C.

So far we're off to a pretty good start.

Visually the game is beautiful. It looks gorgeous. What we've come to expect from a Far Cry title. Beautiful realistic scenery, great animals and people who look and move like people instead of programs. Far Cry: Primal delivers in the graphics department.
    Great looking game.

Like it's predecessors the game's controls are excellent too. Here lies the biggest challenge of the latest "Far Cry" game though.

You've played "Far Cry 4" which was arguably a juiced up and polished version of "Far Cry 3"... Do you really want to do it all over again... without guns and rocket launchers?

    Early doors say "yes".

The game focuses on the survival aspect of all the previous "Far Cry" series and it does it exceptionally well.

It's comparable to "Tomb Raider" and "The Witcher 3" but different enough from both to be able to stand apart in it's own right.

Your character has "Hunter's Instinct" which allow for not just the highlighting of relevant crafting materials, treasures and animals. It also allows you to hunt like an hunter and track like a hunter.

It's a bit like Geralt using his Witcher Senses to solve crimes in "The Witcher 3". You can mortally wound an animal with an arrow and it will flee off into the bushes but eventually die... but even though you lost track of where it went thanks to your
Hunter Sense you're able to pick up on the blood trail from the animal's wound and track it to where it eventually expired.

    The open world is amazing.

This is a game for those who like to explore.

There is the option to fast travel once certain locations are discovered but this game is just too beautiful to squander on fast travel.

The lack of vehicles really lends itself well to being a hunter in a Neolithic Age where you have to stalk your prey and tread with caution.

You can really immerse yourself in discovering this new and fantastic land.

Like it says on the back of the box... you go from being prey... to predator and early doors make this look like a fun transition to play through.

The story in a nutshell is your clan is scattered in a new land and someone needs to gather and unite them.

There are some obvious "Far Cry Tropes" in this game. The Liberated Radio Towers are replaced with something different that allows you to unlock portions of the map. Some of the hunts will bring you back to your days of bow and arrow in "Far Cry 3/4".
You'll skin creatures to craft special items and there are rare and exotic varieties to hut down.

But there's also a lot of fresh new stuff. You'll be able to control creatures, restore the fortunes of your Tribe and end up with important and influential people in your village (a little like the Village Management side of "Dynasty Warriors 7" - or was
it 8) and eventually reap special rewards from their presence.

Its looking like all the best of what's made the "Far Cry" series stand out over recent games with enough of a twist to give you a satisfying immersive new adventure.

Great game to sit down with and lose yourself for a while.

    :)

  4. Far Cry Primal: First Impressions

I'll be picking up the deluxe edition of this game tomorrow. From what I've seen of this game it is going to be a fun experience for me. The fact that Ubisoft are taking a risk with this game with the setting is just amazing.

I believe this was a passion project for Ubisoft since this title was announced out of no where. I was surprised that this title wasn't announced at E3 last year.

"Early doors" is an English expression that simply means "early on".

    I drink tea also.

Ignore my post, I confused myself replying to several different forums at once, :-S

On another note, I watched a review on YouTube earlier which actually got ne quite hyped for this game. I was half and half about it but it does look really good.

Didn't play very much yet since it wasn't working last night did play for about an hour this morning though and was impressed. Also seems like it's a really big game in that hour I completed 0.92% of the game

This game is "just" what i expected....

And it's good.Engine runs smoovly even if there are less weapons and vehicules, everything serves its purpose and villages upgrades/management is a really cool idea.

Far Cry Primal is more about surviving, exploring, learning and living in an "original" open wild world and not "another" open world FPS.

It's maybe the" ultimate" Far Cry (i'm not saying previous games were bad),but this one feels right and different.

Also, everything is here (so far,no season pass) Far Cry Primal: First Impressions :)

Picked up a copy for PC for $35. Worth waiting an extra week. I have to finish 4 still. I got miserable performance playing on high. Turned it to medium yesterday and it runs great and still looks good.

IM actually pretty impressed with the game. I will admit, I thought it was going to be a chewed meat experience but I was wrong. I think I like this more then FC 3 ... no ido ! I do miss Vaas though but man that Caveman leader from the other tribe is one
scary looking dude, they did good. The visuals are rich and lush and the sound effects, they have sound occlusion !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Def must have IMO.
