Fan on top pumping out hot air??

Hi. Just curious, when I'm playing, Especially online multuplayet, the fan on the top of the unit is putting out a lot of hot air. The rest of the unit is cool to the touch.

Is this normal? I know my XB360 blew out hot air but XB1 seems hotter imo. It's kept in the open, not in a cabinet or anything.

How hot can the slim model get...

I bought a slim model used at a mom and pop store.....I had one before I know e get hot around the top fan area, but I can't remember if they got this hot..... After an hour of playing an installed game...at the top of the fan area it got 138F No where
else on the machine is getting hot...staying at room temps....I was wondering if this is normal????? Thanks

Yes that is normal. It will run hotter when playing and that is used to keep the unit from overheating. Happy Gaming!

OP: Does the physical console itself get hot, or is the air coming out of the vent fan hot? If it's just the air, this is a good thing. You want that hot air coming out, not staying in.

It's entirely normal, and there will be hot air coming out of the top of it when you play games, it's nothing to worry about. You should worry if hot air stops coming out of the top of it

Yes I have, It has the same fan as the ps5 and I was wondering if I could put some holes in the bottom for the fan so it can grab some air and blow it at the hot air to blow the hot air out.

There's a large cooling fan on the top of the unit when it's laying flat. So it seems this position would offer the best airflow when the hot air rises.
