Fan Making Chirping Noise!

So now my fan is making a random and annoying chirping noise. Most likely the bearing in the fan is giving out or already losing lubrication.

First it was 2 solid weeks of freezes before that finally stopped, now this?! Seriously Microsoft or Sony can you put out a console that can last longer than 1 year? The biggest mistake in the history of consoles is trying to make them computers. Too
many moving parts. The old school cartridge based consoles were tanks and are still working today. Has anyone on these threads made it through the first year without having to use the warranty or call support?

At least with a gaming PC, you can open it yourself and buy your own replacement parts. These consoles are built like rubiks cubes and even if I were able to dismantle the Xbox One without destroying it, I'd never be able to find the same parts, ie. fan
or blu-ray drive. As for the internal hard drive, yeah it's just an off the shelf laptop drive, but it's not like I have a copy of the Xbox One's OS just lying around to install. That's one thing Sony got right, replacing the internal hard drive.

So I'm left to send to my console away to have it put in a pile of other broken Xboxs and then likely slammed around on a workbench by a jaded tech who's dealt with a dozen broken boxes that day or be sent a refurb that's only going to give me more trouble
anyway, if these threads are any indication.

So that's my rant.

Xbox One is chirping

i have the same problem with the chirping noises, the chirping was not there when i first got the xbox one but after a wyl now it starts making the noises. the fan seems to be loud off and on.

 

Xbox Power Brick and Console Noise

Hello, I'm having some issues with my Xbox One. In the beginning my Xbox was making a weird fan noise. I decided to go through the advance replacement program. They sent me another console. The replacement they sent actually had a worse sound than my original.
Now I've also noticed that my power brick is making a weird chirping noise as though the fan is defective. What do I do with the replacement and what do I do about the power brick? Thanks!

 

So I called the support line today to start the process of a replacement and the rep, who was very helpful I might add, said that he handled 2 other fan related issues that day. I was on hold with a manager to file a formal complaint but the call got disconnected.


I will voice my opinion here though that this fan issue does sound like a common problem and perhaps Microsoft should issue a recall. System fans shouldn't be dying from less than a year of usage as I bought mine this spring.

How many others on here have experienced issues with the fan in their console already?

 

It's a very common issue with the console that come WITHOUT Kinect. I get the problem regardless if the console is playing games or in the dashboard.

So now the chirping as mostly gone away. WTF? Sometimes it might happen for a minute, but mostly gone. I'm glad, but also concerned that a new problem may be on it's way. Anyone else ever have this issue go away after a couple of weeks?

 

It was one of my problems with my day one edition, HAPPEND mostly in stand by, not sure if it's the same noise, but I just did an advanced exchange.

 

Any solution for this? It's annoying

 

If the bearings going out there is no fix, gotta get it replaced. I strongly suggest you put your Ones in energy saving mode to not only save the fans (both in the system and the power supply) but also the HD which spins up quite frequently. It only takes
maybe 10 or 15 seconds longer to start up.

 

I chated with the Xbox one support guys and told me that it's wasn't an issue, and that if I wanna, I can send it to "repair" and the will fix it if they find something, but I won't be getting a new one (I BOUGHT IT 4DAYS AGO!), but if they don't find "something
wrong" they will be just sending my Xbox back, I'm reading many threads and ppl say that when they send it, they get back the same Xbox with a letter saying that the couldn't find any problems. It's jus annoying; the chirping sound and the Xbox costumer service.

 

Xbox support said it isn't an issue? Lol, look at these forums and tell me it isn't an issue. Also when I spoke with Xbox support about my issue, he advised me that he handled two other fan issues that day himself.

 

I know, it's a freaking joke. I will be sending the Xbox and updating the situation in this thread, there are a lot of threads about this issue, but in most of them people doesn't post the solution.

The only noise that should come from a fan is the noise generated by the air. Chirping means something is wearing.

 

And i just realized that it overheats after 1 hour (more or less) of playing. I'm so frustrated, less than a week with the console and all this crap happening...
