Family Xbox One Sharing - Multiple Consoles

I am asking as I have read conflicting information from multiple sites and my experience.

We have my main account, call that A. My wife’s, call that B, and my two kids, C and D. All are liked as family, purchases are all through A.

We have a Series X call that Console 1, which is my hone (A’s home XBox). We also have a second XBox One, call that Console 2.

Console 1 is the home XBox to all of A, B, C and D.

Typically, A and B play together on 1. C and D on 2. Both consoles on the same network in the same home.

Sometimes this is at the same time.

I have found that Console 2 will not play games for C and D without A signed in, in this case, it is impossible for A to play simultaneously on 1.

Trialing, it does appear that if A makes the home Consol 2, it can all work.

But, from what I understand, A then cannot make any purchases on 1 or it won’t work for C or D in 2? Is that correct? I really don’t want to have to primarily use one to purchase then run to 2 to download.

Are there any other issues or suggestions? You are limited in number of switches each year so I really can’t trial much.

Microsoft, why the hell can’t you make this logical and practical? List to the damn customer.

    :)

I believe you can share those without having to buy multiple copies of games, etc.

A can make purchases on any console they want. Since 2 is set as the Home console, the purchases should automatically install there and A would just need to manually install the games on 1.

Microsoft are trialing a Friends and Family Game Pass Ultimate plan. Once that is fully released, you can add other accounts to the subscription itself and it will make some things easier.

Has this been resolved for you yet?

We have the same setup here - two xboxes and have no issues.

The trick is to have your son's console set up as the home console (see the above comment on how to do that). That way your son's console will have access to all games that you have purchased.
