  1. Family settings. Changing from organiser to member

Hello, I set up an account some time ago and I am the main organiser. I subsequently set up an account for my son and applied parental and screen time controls to it. However, I discovered that my son is using my account as he had already saved a lot of stuff to that profile for Minecraft so he wants to keep using it. i don’t seem to be able to apply screen time limits to my organiser profile and the settings won’t let me change my status to member. Any thoughts - particularly around applying screen time limits to an organiser account. Thanks

    :)

Family settings. Changing from organiser to member

Hello, My name is Jesse. I'm an Independent Advisor and a member of the Microsoft community and I'd love to assist you today.

Create a new account and add it to the family group as an organiser as well. Then using that account, you can make your current one a member and then apply the settings you wish to implement on it.

    Hope this helps

    Privacy Settings

    Hi LuckyLacey

If you are seeing this message then you are part of a Microsoft Family group as member (child). Only an organiser (adult) can change these setting.

You will need to ask an organiser to log-in to the web page, find you as a member and change these settings.

Enabling multiplayer in child's account when unable to select their account from Parent account of Family Group

As my child was also an organiser of the family I had to sign in to their profile and could change their settings on their login. Despite being a child if they’re an organiser it disables parent functions. So anyway I got it working but that’s not the best security feature.

Thanks perhaps as you say removing the account from the family and re-adding them as a member may fix that too.

How to remove an unauthorised’Organiser’ setting

    Hi there,

Im not sure how he did it, but my 14yr old son has changed his Microsoft Family account setting to ‘organiser’. Is there a step by step guide on how to change it back without having to completely delete his profile and achievements?

I’ve added myself back in as another organiser on a different new profile with the intention of removing his status (as i know all the logins etc ),but every time i try to ‘remove’ him it says i need to amend the permissions for my other childrens accounts
with no clear method of doing so.

    can anyone help?

    Thanks
I've just had this exact problem with my son! The easiest way to do it is to just delete his profile, but that, although it would teach him a lesson, does seem a little harsh - he has worked hard building up his game achievements, for instance. All you need
to know is that he / you have access to the email account that acts as the log in for his profile. First of all, change your password for your account log in - he probably knows this & this is how he's altered his status from member to organiser in the first
    place!

So, after that, what I did was this-

    1. Log in to microsoft family using your organiser profile.

    2. Click on your profile and go down to family members.

    3. Remove his profile from the family.

    4. Go back and add a new member to the family.

    5. Add his email address to add him back in as a member of the family albeit as a new member.

    6. Make sure that you select him as "member" rather than "organiser".

    7. He will get an email invite to join back into the family, then you approve that using your credentials.

    8. He should now be in as a member, but not an organiser.

    Hope this helps!

    Take care & stay safe.

    XBOX Screen time limit

Hi thank you for the reply but I want to be able to set a screen time limit on the family organisers account as this is the one my child uses on the Xbox NOT on a family members account.
