Family Safety - how to allow multiplayer games (i.e., Minecraft) for 14 year old?

How can I allow my 14 year old to access Multiplayer on Minecraft Java Edition (1.20.4) on his Windows PC? The only option he can select is Singleplayer. He does not have an Xbox, just a new Windows laptop.

I can't find the setting in Microsoft Family Safety to enable this and the support pages do not provide info.

    Please help!!

    :)

Family Safety - how to allow multiplayer games (i.e., Minecraft) for 14 year old?

Hi John, my name is Rodrigo. I'm an Independent Advisor and a member of the Microsoft community and I'd love to assist you today.

I am sorry to hear that.

Please, let us review if all these options are enabled:

Using the Xbox Family Settings app on your mobile device, enable Multiplayer for Minecraft.

In the Xbox Family Settings app:

Go to Settings > In Enable Minecraft > Select Allow this game.

Turn on Multiplayer to let a member play online with others

Enable Clubs so that a member can create and join Minecraft Realms servers.

To download the Family App: https://www.xbox.com/apps/family-settings-app

Then, check your account privacy settings:

    Please, enter this site:

    https://account.xbox.com/settings

On the Privacy Tab, allow "You can communicate outside of Xbox Live with voice & text"

Then, switch over to the Xbox One/Windows 10 Online Safety tab:

    Allow:

"You can play with people outside of Xbox Live"

    "You can add friends"

    I hope this helps.

How to change microsoft multiplayer settings on a macbook pro

    Hi Holly,

To change your Microsoft account privacy settings, sign in to the privacy & online safety page. You can also make these changes on an Xbox One, Series X|S console or through the Xbox Family Settings app. When making any account changes, make sure to select “submit” to confirm and save these changes.

Note: If you’re using a child account, you’ll need an adult in your family to sign in to their Microsoft account to change your privacy settings.

To play Minecraft Realms, you need to allow the following settings:

“You can play with people outside of Xbox Live”

“You can create and join clubs”

“You can join multiplayer games safety”

Set the above settings to allow and you should be able to play online in Minecraft. Although if you encounter any issues with this, here is a Multiplayer troubleshooting page:
