    Family permissions for minecraft servers

    Hi

My son (9) wants to play minecraft on my laptop, already plays on 360 but wants the extras.

On his log in (family profile) he can't access the servers option of the game. On my log in he can.

I've gone through the settings on the xbox website but I can't see what it is that is stopping his profile accessing the servers.

    Any ideas please?

He is using an xbox live log in, we both have the free accounts not live gold or anything.

Please tailor responses to dunce parent.

    Need the dad points...

    Thanks

    David

    :)

You say your son is already added to your parental account on
    https://account.microsoft.com/family
    , right?

    If so, please go to
    https://account.xbox.com/settings
and sign in with your parent account.

You should see your son's account to be selectable.

Click on your son's account and change his online and privacy settings.

You will have three categories: Privacy, Xbox One/Windows 10 Online Safety and Xbox 360 Online Safety.

On the Privacy Tab, set the settings to what you want your son to be able to do online in general. But to be able to visit realms or other online players, he would have to be able to "See and upload community creations" (at least Friend's creations, if playing
on public servers he'll need the permission for everyone).

Save the settings you made on the Privacy tab, before you click on the Xbox One/Windows 10 Online Safety settings.

There you need to allow at least the ability to "join multiplayer games".

    Also save the settings.

If your son was signed in on the Laptop while the changes were made, he needs to sign out of the laptop and then sign back in.

Then your son should be able to play Minecraft online on the PC.

Minecraft disabled multiplayer and says to enable it I have to change it in my Microsoft settings. My question is, where are those settings?

After you have allowed Minecraft in Family Settings you will need to log out from your MS account in Minecraft Launcher.
Then log back in and your account permissions should be refreshed.

Ive been trying to get on the launcher and says "You'll need to ask an adult in your family if you can use: Minecraft Launcher" and when i get permission it doesn't work what do i do?

    Hello Shadowius2,

Thank you for posting in the Microsoft Community.

I'm sorry to hear that you are having trouble launching Minecraft Launcher. To better assist you, I would like to ask you a few questions:

    - How did you get permission from an adult in your family? Did you use the Xbox Family Settings app or the website?

    - What happens when you try to launch Minecraft Launcher after getting permission? Do you see any error messages or codes?

    - Have you tried restarting your Xbox console and checking for any updates?

Here are some steps you can try to fix it:

    - Make sure you have the latest version of the Minecraft Launcher installed on your PC.

    - Check your Microsoft Family settings and make sure you have permission to use the Minecraft Launcher app. You can do this by going to https://account.microsoft.com/family/ and signing in with your Microsoft account. If you don't see the Minecraft Launcher app listed, you may need to ask an adult in your family to add it to your allowed apps.

    - If you have permission to use the Minecraft Launcher app, try signing out and signing back in to your Xbox Live account on the launcher. You can do this by clicking on your profile picture in the top right corner and selecting "Sign out". Then, click on "Sign in" and enter your Xbox Live credentials.

I hope this helps you resolve your issue. If you have any other questions or concerns, please feel free to reply to this message. Thank you for choosing Xbox and have a great day!
