Family Gold Plan Conversion only for XB1 - 360 Users told to go pound sand.

Contacted support back in October when it was announced that they were converting all Family Gold plans over to individual memberships. When I voiced my concerns about the increased cost of all the individual plans (We have 3 separate consoles in house with
4 XBL accounts) I was told 'don't worry' that the new "Home Gold" plan that they had for the XB1 was going to have some kind of companion piece for the 360.

Well yesterday they shut off all of the secondary accounts on my family plan and after both a chat and phone discussion with MSFT it comes out they they never had and never will have any plans of doing a "Home Gold" for 360 users. Sorry charlie, no donut
for you.

SOOO now if we want to continue to use the consoles my investment just went from $99 to $240 per year.

Way to punish your users.

Not that this post will make a BIT of difference to anyone at MS, but I will tell you that when I do finally pony up the money to upgrade those consoles, the XB1 vs PS4 tally sheet has taken a decided turn towards Sony.

How to upgrade individual account to family?

Unfortunately the Family Plan has been discontinued. I've included a link for the

Family Plan Conversion FAQ explaining the transition. At this time, there is no plan's for families on the Xbox 360 console. With the Xbox One console, a new plan was introduced called Home Gold where only 1 account needs to have gold for the entire family
to enjoy the gold benefits. Let us know if you have any other questions or concerns.

GiltShark26976, I see that one of the tags you associated with your post was "Family Plan" - Are you by chance part of somebody's Family Gold plan? If so, that is likely the problem. For whatever reason, the Family Gold plan only recognizes the primary account
holder as having adult status for their account; every other account in the plan is treated like a child account, regardless of the user's age. However, the Family Gold plan will be desolved tomorrow, 27 August, 2013, and all accounts within a familyt plan
will be converted to individual accounts with gold that expires when the family plan was supposed to expire, plus you'll get an additional months of gold. If you are still having this issue once the conversion occurs, follow the instructions found in the following
link to promote your account to adult status. IMPORTANT: Do Not do this before the conversion from Famly Gold to regular Gold or you will be removed from the Family Gold plan! Here's the link:

Basically, what this tells you to do is:

¤ Login to your profile on your console

¤ Go to the Settings tab on the dashboard

¤ Select the Account tile

¤ Choose the Promote Child Account option

 

Bear in mind though that when you do upgrade to a current gen console that the PS4 doesn't have a 'Home Gold' alternative.

So given that the PS4 requires a PSN+ subscription in order to enable online play, you'd eventually be paying them more with each PS4 bought.

That's worth making note of if subscription costs are an issue.

 

As i understand the "Home Gold" it isn't 'per household' its more 'per console'...so you'd still need more than 1 'home gold' to play on 3 separate consoles. That is the issue i have with it. As someone who had a 4 account family plan with multiple consoles
in the house. It would still double what the previous 'family' plan was.

 

Just ran into this today.. For the Xbox One console everything works fine. My son can join games and do all the Gold stuff. On the 360, he can no longer do that and was told that in order for him to use gold features on the 360, he needs his own Gold Account.

Now for me, this wouldn't be an issue if the Xbox One did everything the 360 does. Media Center, watch your own movie collection, listen to your own Music, browse network locations, etc..
