Family account on 2 xboxes

So my family has an Xbox and my parents each have their own account and my brother and I have our own accounts. We decided to buy another Xbox so we didn't have to take turns and so we could both play online with each other and others. So when we set up
the Xbox we signed in with my dad's account because all the games were purchased on his account except one which was on my mom's account. I signed in with my account and installed the games and tried to play them. It didn't work so I made the new Xbox the
home Xbox, as you would if you were game sharing, that worked but when my brother tried to play on the old Xbox it didn't work anymore. Is there a way we can play games purchased on our parent's accounts on the new Xbox under my account and the old under my
brother's account or do we have to buy new games for the new Xbox?

There are 2 ways for an account to be seen in the system as a child account.

1. The DOB on the account when it was originally setup. There is no way to change this in the Xbox profile side of things.

2. If it is part of a family as a child account. Even as an adult an account can be added to a family as a child and the system will see it as a child account. You can sign into your account at account.microsoft.com/family and it will tell you if you are
in a family and whether you are an adult or child in the familly. If your account is the only one on the page that means that you are the only member of the family and the account is considered an adult account.

Ok if I did that would my brother still be able to play under his account on the old xbox

Thanks for reaching out to Xbox forums support.

I understand that you're having issues trying to play the games that are owned by your dad's (and mom's) account on the new Xbox.

All you would do is, set your dad's account as "the home Xbox" on the brand new Xbox. Then you would sign out of your dad's account.

Next, you would sign into your Mom's account on the new Xbox and again, "set as the home Xbox". Sign out of your mom's account

afterwards.

Once all that is completed... any other accounts that sign into that Xbox console will be able to enjoy your Dad's (and mom's) games.

Since they were purchased under your parent's accounts, unfortunately the best thing to do would be to buy them again. You can only share on 1 console at a time. The account that purchased the content can sign in and use the content on any console.

Thank you for keeping us updated. If your father's account owns all the games and is set up as the home console profile on the new console, you would not be able to utilize those games on the old console unless you are signed in to his account. As Smwutches
stated, "You can only share on 1 console at a time. The account that purchased the content can sign in and use the content on any console." The best option going forward would be to purchase games on you or your brother's account so you can game share and
play with each other. We hope this helps!
