Fallout New Vegas Won't get past first 5 minutes...

I had a copy of Fallout New Vegas that I felt the urge to play today in anticipation of the new game. I have played Fallout 3 a hundred times and figured I would give this one a go again. However, the game would routinely freeze on start up. I did some
trouble shooting (clearing Cache, deleting saved files, and removing HDD. I was finally able to get it to load through creating the player, but once I would go to leave the first house and start the game I would get "The Disc is unreadable". The disc doesn't
even have a finger print on it. I saved the game to the HDD to try and get it to launch from there, same problem.

Still, its possible to have received a bad disc. I put in another game which played with no issues, troubles, or anything else. All signs seemed to be pointing to the disc. So I headed down to Gamestop and picked up the Ultimate Edition of the game. I
came home, again deleted all my game saves (including the game itself), cleared the cache, popped the disc in. Played the first 5 minutes and received the same error on a brand new disc. Frustrated to no end, I though perhaps something was corrupt on the
HDD. So I formatted that and lost everything I had saved on there, but I was this determined to play the game. Setup the XBOX again, put the disc in. Played 5 minutes. Same thing AGAIN.

In a moment of insanity I thought, well maybe the Optical Drive has a problem (even though it can read and play every other game I own just fine) and searched the game on XBOX live and downloaded it. I again removed the HDD, Cleared the Cache, deleted all
files associated with the game. Let it download, installed the game. Played 5 minutes and again it says "This disc is unreadable" which is incredible because there is no disc to read.

So on my original copy which I played through completion previously, a brand new disc, and a downloaded version all have the same issue and give me the same error at the same spot. I have deleted, reformatted, removed, and restarted the HDD more times than
I can count to no avail. I have tried all the solution in the help center including the sticky in this forum and am at a loss as to what to try next.

I have had no problem playing the game to completion.

Did you delete the title update? I believe the game updates are stored in the games saved locations rather than the cache. Could you please try and delete the update there and then see if it fix your issue?

 

I did delete the title update and let it reupdate. Even deleted it a second time. No luck.

 

Had same issue on my old white 360 but diffrent game mass effect colectors did all you did broke down bought new hd no more issues....

 

That fact that you get the same error from the digital download suggest to me that it could still well be a hard drive problem. Some Xbox games make use of an external cache, indeed the game updates are typically stored in the same location. This applies
to both disc games and digital downloads.

As a last course of action I propose this. Insert a USB Flash drive into your console and configure it for use. Turn off your console and remove the hard drive. If you don't know how

read this.

With the hard drive removed and the Flash drive configured, power the console back up and accept any updates if prompted. If you have the disc version, try playing that. Otherwise, you'll need to download the digital game to the Flash drive - the drive will
need to be at least 8GB.

Let is know if you get the same error now.
