    how many mods do you have currently in use. To many can corrupt the system and cause major lag. Try and disable them and try over.

    Some mods do not mix well with others and can crash the game upon start up. It sucks but process of elimination will tell you which mod is crashing the game.

    you could also try making sure that u don't have any corrupt game files
