Fallout 4 stuck on loading standby screen on Xbox One

I was able to fix it. I had the same happen to me just now after a quick save. The game froze so I quit and restarted. Got the black screen, would never load. FYI I have some mods loaded, and had been in Nukatown for a few days already.

I shut down the console. Pulled the plug and tapped the power button on the console face a bunch of times. Plugged back in, restarted, now game loads again. It took a little longer to get to the loading screen first time.

I can confirm that this worked for me. I literally just got my Xbox One S about two weeks ago and had this happened to me today. I was worried that my console was defective but this weird method worked for me. I also thought that it may have been affected
by downloading/installing Destiny, which also turned out to be untrue.

The game cache method worked for me.

 

I just had the same problem where i was playing and paused the game to save, but randomly it froze so i tried restarting the game and it faded into a pure black screen which wouldn't load or anything i was in the middle of my nuka world DLC when it happened.
I was afraid i'd lose 60 hours of game progress like i did when i lost 7 days worth of game progress before due to a game crash because of an enormous amount of items i collected into a storage container. Surprisingly after taking out the disc and wiping off
a few smudges with some tissue, i put the game back in and it lagged a little bit but it went straight to the power armor loading screen allowing me to continue my progress.

 

You could try contacting Xbox Support about the refund since they have purchase info but I'm not sure if they can give you a refund.

 

Once again, this solution worked, it merited me trying to remember my log in details to contribute to it.

One of this systems biggest flaws is also it's biggest strength. Incumbent Memory. How it will sometimes boot right back up even after being switched off, it keeps the data it needs but unfortunately this also extends to the things it can't process. When it
is unable to process a malfunction or pass a logic gate it won't just drop it when it's switched off or the disk is taken out, because it never stops running. Only by unplugging it from the power can you clear its logic cache and reset it's concentration.....pressing
the on button a couple times while its switched off does nothing but it's a nice flourish. Thanks for the solution.

 

I've played Fallout 4 quite a while now. My issue is similar to the above issues. In my case after the "Press any button to start the game" is done. After my gamer tag pops up the main menu appears. I am unable to do anything. It buzzes for about 5
seconds and kicks me out to XBox's main menu. This is a Bethesda cloud problem. The same thing happens to a different XBox One with a different game disk in a different city. I'm on, or was, around level 482. I say that because I have experienced every
glitch possible playing this game. I knew how to eventually solve all of the other issues on my own. I have witnessed corrupted saves, tons of frozen screens, not loading "Addons", kicking me out, but, at least, I had the main menu to help correct things.
The local save has the same problem, due to the fact that, I assume, once you've decided to use the cloud's save, the local save is replaced with that one.

I am able to fix the issue. This is for everyone that the above mentioned solutions didn't fix their issue. I did this on an Xbox One S that was having issues loading Fallout for the first time on the system using a used disc I bought online. I completely
wiped the system, deleted everything in a system restore, I unchecked quick start, and used power saving mode, then I chose to not the games update on their own or the system. I read that a system update may have been the cause of this issue. When I downloaded
the game, I didn't let it apply the internet update to the game and just let it install from the disc, once that was done I would launch the game and then let the internet update start. This worked for every game that I was having an issue with. Including
The Witcher 3 and Dark Souls 3. I hope this helps!

Just curious if you're using an external HD. I am currently having a similar issue with Fallout4 but perhaps fixed it (if not just temporarily). I'm using an external Seagate Hard drive. I turned off the xbox using the button on the console itself (rather
than by the controller). Unplugged/replugged the HD. Turned on console. Back to working. Hopefully doesn't mean my HD is stuffing up. Only had it a few months and haven't even filled it half way.
