Fallout 4 Now Available to Pre-Order

I just stayed at Novac in NV, the loading screens can be a pain.

I don't really class Fallout and Witcher as the same personally. In Fallout, you're more up close and personal with your surroundings. In the Witcher, everything is at a distance from your view because of the 3rd person.

I know they are both open world rpg's that's about it though, they have totally different style and mechanics to compare graphically for me. I know some probably won't agree and that's fine, it's just how I see it.

 

Patient,i am....but too much loading screens,are just too much.

Enter a room (30 secs loading) get out a room ( 30 secs loading),that's too much for me.

Especially when some devs try to avoid as much as possible loading screens and others don't.

When i see GTA V,Far Cry 3 & 4,Witcher 3,it seems possible.

And if they were nice enough to give you a presidential suite, why couldn't we just let our handy dandy pipboys take us there straight away? It does everything else for you....dresses you, arms you, feeds you, why not transport you to your room?! Why pipboy,

My favorite Hitman game is Hitman 2: Silent Assassin and on the 1rst mission, I was able to silently kill most of the guards / hide all of their bodies. This took a long time and a lot of patience LOL

Then, I finished off the remaining guards (sparing the lives of the innocent) and purposely let my target see me. The target ran for a while before I completed the contract with a head shot from Agent 47'a silenced Magnums

Don't really know how much difference there would be between an MMO type game and a SP game, so I'm not sure if this is any indicator or not, but:

I can recall all too well, the countless number of loading screens (and the l o n g wait for them) in Skyrim. Well, if ESO is any indicator of how it works this gen as compared to last, it's night and day.

Yes, it has loading screens between large zones and if you're fast traveling... but they're not at all as bad as they were in Skyrim, unless you run into the [now] occasional server issue. Also, if you're in a town or city and you decide to enter a building...
there is almost no wait at all, sometimes a few seconds... usually, less than that. That's to enter a building AND to exit. I'm impressed in that aspect. Would be nice to know if that's just a difference between MMO and a SP game, because the world of ESO
is absolutely enormous.

In Destiny, there is absolutely no loading time once you are planet side, which is amazing given the size of the play area that each planet has.

The only downside is the loading screen in Orbit, the unskippable cut scenes, and the occassional " stuck in position loading session " caused by random server issues.

I think a trick many games developers need to learn is the "disguised" loading screen, take Destiny for example, the nice little video of you flying your ship down to a planet? hidden loading screen...

 

Hopefully they have done away with alot of loading screens. There's a glimmer of hope when they showed the crafting, after he built the house/shack he opened the door and walked straight in, all being well it's the same with other buildings too.

 

It won't matter anyway gang. If there's a bunch of areas you have to get through before getting somewhere you want to be... you can make a request over at the Nexus [or get a handle on the tools yourself] and have what you don't like modded out.

The modding support will change everything if you've never played a modded Fallout before.

I could access the penthouse via my modded Pipboy in FNV, but my favourite house was Novac, and I used the GECK to put up all the posters I wanted, had the radio playing all the songs I wanted, changed all the lighting, and had a couple of gun racks and
safes in there.

... I love what I saw of the DIY safe houses in the FO4 announcement, should be able to find a nice vantage in the world, and set up the assets required to build one of those things anywhere we like, with mods.

We're getting two versions of FO4, vanilla, and then down the road... the heavenly version. {XD

 

I have zero interest in the mod side of Fallout at this stage. Would rather just play as intended.

 

Furry m-u-f-f. Bugs 'n' all. We'll all be playing as intended until the mod support goes live.

I should say that even with mods, I kept my Fallout as vanilla as possible. Fixes and cosmetic improvements via mods is my bag baby.

 

Will definitely have at least two good playthrough before I mess with mods. I'm actually looking forward to seeing how Bethesda does handle the mods, and then seeing what they allow through to the X1.

Gonna be interesting to see how it pans out.

 

Even if they just allow fixes I'll be happy. They never patched out the memory leaks in the console versions of FO3 and FNV, nor Skyrim come to that, and they were horrendous. S'what led to those epic loading times.

New engine though. I hope it's more robust and polished and less prone to bugginess. That'll mean less need for mods. But with a new engine comes new tools. Dunno if anybody downloaded the tools for RAGE but it was 50gig of sheer complexity... heh ha. Beth
have a good track record of putting out tools anyone can get to grips with.
