Fallout 4 Release Rumor: Bethesda Heads To Boston This Weekend -By Mo Mozuch on April 8, 2014

Greetings loyal Fallout fans! It's been a looong time since we had a chat about the phantasm that is the Fallout 4 release date. And, in light of this weekend's PAX East conference in Boston I thought it appropriate to put a refresher out there regarding
Fallout 4 and when the Fallout 4 release date will be upon us. Once again, Bethesda has a perfect showcase for debuting Bethesda Game Studios next project. PAX East isn't just industry types, it's more of a celebration of gaming fans and culture than the business
itself. This makes for an atmosphere of extreme fandom that provides an enthusiastic cushion on which to drop a Fallout 4 release announcement.

There's also the Boston connection. Last year, Kotaku leaked documents from a casting call allegedly held for Fallout 4 VO work. Contained in the materials was a confirmation that Fallout 4 would be set in Boston, a rumor that had persisted online since
Fall of 2012. It has also been exploited by numerous pranksters, making it seem less likely each time it was brought up. But gamers respect Kotaku and, although Bethesda has made no official comment, the general consensus is that the kotaku scoop was legit
and that Fallout 4 is coming to Boston. So shouldn't Fallout 4 be announced in Boston?

Yes it should. But it won't.

Many of us already know about Pete Hines soul crushing OXM interview where he discussed Bethesda Game Studios next project. Of course, he doesn't give any specifics (including a title or genre) but did say that it looks awesome. As for a timetable, he delivered
this swift nut shot to our hopes and dreams: "Expect it never and be surprised if it's any time before then."

So if you're holding out hope for a PAX East Fallout 4 reveal, don't. I've looked over Bethesda's PR materials for the show and booked appointments with them and the focus of PAX East is the same as the focus of E3 last year: The Evil Within and Wolfenstein:
The New Order. Both of these games are being offered as hands-on demos at PAX East from Bethesda Softworks. Bethesda Game Studios doesn't even appear on any of the promo stuff.

Pete Hines has been chatty on Twitter when it comes to the new BS offerings, too. He's promised fans that more details on The Evil Within are coming soon, as are some updates on what the Elder Scrolls Online console experience will be like. In short, Bethesda's
PR people are still focused on the projects they were focused on this time last year. The difference, of course, being that these products will actually come out this year. If you remember, The Evil Within,Wolfenstein: The New Order and Elder Scrolls Online
were all supposed to launch in 2013. It's not outlandish to think that their delay is what is causing the delay of the big Fallout 4 release reveal. After all, once Fallout 4 is out of the bag it will be hard for fans and media types to focus on these other
    games.

The good news, though, is that by the time this year's E3 rolls around Bethesda will be in a much tougher position. Silence has been golden thus far, but E3 takes place on June 10-12. By that time Wolfenstein: The New Order will be out (it releases May 20)
and we'll be more than two months into the PC/Mac release of Elder Scrolls Online. The console version of ESO comes out June 30, and The Evil Within launches on August 26. This means that by the end of the summer ZeniMax (which owns both Bethesda studios)
will have nothing on the calendar. After August 26 there is absolutely zero for the PR team to do. Sure, there might be a little DLC for Wolfenstein coming this fall or some new announcements for ESO (like removing the monthly fee maybe?) but, overall, there
is no big exciting project for Bethesda to hype.

    Except, of course, Fallout 4.

I've been covering Fallout 4 for a very, very long time. Well before the Kotaku leak I was able to piece together enough info from online leaks and past interviews to prove that Fallout 4 IS coming. It's not a question of "if" but "when." And after looking
at Bethesda's PR moves for the last 18 months it's clear that the focus has been on the three games being released this year. Especially after the numerous delays. So it's possible the strategy all along has been to announce Fallout 4 once these titles are
on the shelves, a move that was supposed to happen last year but didn't.

Which is why fans are feeling especially frustrated because it's been almost three years since Skyrim was released. There was a three year gap between the release of Fallout 3 and Skyrim, too, but the difference between then and now is that Skyrim was announced
in 2010. Bethesda confirmed the game was in development two years before the release. It's been close to three years and we still even haven't heard Bethesda say that Fallout 4 is a real thing.
It's not crazy to speculate we might not see Fallout 4 until 2016.

Meanwhile, numerous hoaxes and pranks have fooled fans and soured their sentiments regarding Bethesda.
Why won't the company just say something? Why do they keep letting us get fooled? "Exactly!" - Bizarro The answer appears to be the PR focus on Wolfenstein: The
New Order, The Evil Within and Elder Scrolls Online. But once those distractions are gone, and the balance sheets at corporate headquarters are feeling the pinch after three costly delays, I'd expect there to be some full on Fallout 4 hype coming our way later
    this year.

E3 could be the place where we finally hear that "war never changes."

Why Being A Fallout 4 Fan Is Hard? No Release Date Yet - By The Fuse Joplin | April 3, 2014

Being a fan of specific game titles is common but while people who love Call of Duty, Assassin’s Creed or Battlefield don’t suffer much, there are the ones who are part of the fan community that wait for years until official announcements surface.

If you love Fallout 4 and has been anticipating news, it could be really frustrating because there are hoaxes, more hoaxes and rumors that come in. When all you want to do is just know if Obsidian is making the game or Bethesda had hired someone else to
work on it, the company refrains itself from making anything public. If there is some official news so far, it is what Todd Howard the executive producer of Bethesda spoke about the title. He revealed a couple of weeks ago that the team is still sorting out
ideas and they haven’t come to a conclusion yet.

Fallout 4 Is Probably In Development

Speaking to the media, the producer added that the team will be able to share news only when there is news available. The producer was surprised at the level of perfection that people brought about with their mods for Fallout 3 and Fallout New Vegas. It
even made them wonder why they didn’t think of something similar in the first place. From what he spoke, it is clear that mods will definitely play an important role in the upcoming game, if it is under development. Even though, the company doesn’t confirm
if they are working on it or not, it is literally impossible to begin now to release the game in 2014 or 2015. So, they may be in a different phase of development at the moment.

A New Developer Discussed "nooooo!!!" - Bizarro

Among the bunch of news that came out and rumors that keep floating about Fallout 4, here is one information that looks somewhat legitimate. There was a job opening in ZeniMax Media and based on the data collected, it is speculated that a new studio named
Battlecry Studios will be working on this title. For a long time now, the entire focus was on Obsidian because they were the people who made New Vegas into a memorable title but after they made their plans to work simultaneously
on three different titles, it was confirmed that they are not the one working on it.

The company is working on a game titled Armored Tank which is an MMO military shooter, a new version of a previously popular title and another MMORPG. With so many up their stable, it is not possible that Obsidian is the company that is developing Fallout
4 but it could be Battlecry Studios as the job opening claims. The opening was found on Bethesda website as well but it is no longer present. The description was for an environmental designer who could create worlds for an AAA title that is coming for next
gen console as well as PC. The hints point to a Fallout series without a doubt, but again, it’s more speculation as usual. While being a fan of the series is hard, it will definitely be worth it when an announcement is made.

‘Fallout 4′ Rumor: Battlecry Studios Working on ‘Fallout’ ?????

A number of online news outlets are reporting on the possibility that the studio responsible for developing Fallout 3 – Bethesda Game Studios – might not be involved in creating Fallout 4. Instead, based upon recruitment efforts, some have suggested that
a relatively nascent team of developers, called Battlecry Studios, could be involved in producing the next iteration in the renowned, post-apocalyptic franchise.

Battlecry Studios Recruiting Glut of Staff

According to a job listing on ZeniMax Media’s website, the parent company is hunting for a Senior Environment Artist to work as a part of its subsidiary, Battlecry Studios. The posting indicates that the employee will, ultimately, produce environment art
for an undisclosed AAA title for PC and next-generation console platforms. The successful recruit will be involved in asset creation, level build-out and lighting, as well as creating in-game models and textures, to name a select few responsibilities.

Adding to this, a slew of additional listings have also surfaced on the site, including positions for the following:

    Senior Level Designer

    Temporary QA Tester

    Lead VFX Artist

    Animator

    Senior Environment Artist

    Build/Tools Engineer

    Server Engineers

    Graphics, Gameplay and Platform Engineers

    BI Lead Architect

    Web Engineers

    : ( - Bizarro

This information, in isolation, appears to have inspired rumors that Battlecry Studios may take the reins of Fallout 4‘s long-awaited development. Although these are, indeed, interesting job postings, and raises questions over what Battlecry might be working
on, there is scant information to suggest that such an inexperienced studio will assume control of one of ZeniMax’s biggest franchises. noooooo! - Bizarro Frankly,
it is more likely that the Austin-based developers will be working on an entirely new IP, or a sequel to an existing, lesser-known title.

Looking through the “requirements” sections for the postings, most of the skills needed are fairly non-descript and could, quite conceivably, hint at a number of possible projects. Some of the details, however, do provide some clues as to the type of video
game that Battlecry might working towards.

Battlecry Working on Online Multiplayer Game?

ZeniMax has specified that candidates for the Lead VFX Artist position will benefit from experience with Crytek’s CryEngine, alongside prior involvement with “shooter and/or action game” experiences and competitive multiplayer games – something that is also
mentioned for the role of Gameplay Engineer. Since the Fallout franchise is not exactly renowned for its multiplayer experience, this suggests the project may not be Fallout 4, after all. Likewise, when looking at the occupational duties for the Senior Level
Designer, ZeniMax have specifically stated that the candidate must be able to “Design, build, and iterate multiplayer map levels,” and work on the visuals for maps.

Looking closely at the details for the Animator listing, meanwhile, the company lists the ability to skin numerous characters, garments and gear as one if its “pluses.” Furthermore, the Build/Tools Engineer is, seemingly, being hired to help Battlecry Studios
maintain an “online title,” with a number of recommended skills that allude to the studio developing a new online multiplayer game; they aim for recruits with familiarity in systems that relate to game patching, server deployment and asset dependency, along
    with bot driven automated systems.

Ultimately, these details, along with new job postings for Web and Server Engineers, suggests that Battlecry Studios is working on an online multiplayer shooter. Contrary to popular opinion, and many of the circulating rumors, it looks as though Bethesda
will still be in charge of development for Fallout 4.

Guardian Liberty Voice previously reported on a recruitment drive that was spearheaded by Bethesda Game Studios, which included job opportunities in the company’s Art, Programming and Design departments. Quest, Level and User Interface Designers were sought,
as well as a Game Programmer, for a “bleeding edge” RPG. On this occasion, a number of the listings mentioned that candidates with a history of using The Elder Scrolls Construction Set and GECK – a set of Fallout modding tools – would be looked upon favorably.

Although a series of leaked casting documents, allegedly for Fallout 4, were recently uploaded by Kotaku writer Jason Schreier, Bethesda is yet to officially confirm the game is currently in the works.

i have no problem with them taking a long time to come out with it, as long as it works well and isn't made with that disgusting piece of *** engine they keep using. it's been in development for 3 years or so, if they went in right after skyrim...that's
not a bad dev time, not when you consider what some other games have gotten...just be patient and trust that it will be another amazing game from bethesda whenever it comes out.

and i may hate on the gamebryo/create engine, with good reason i might add, but i'm really interested in seeing what fallout will look like with the new graphical upgrade...

I'd like to see them do some Fallout games, even if they had to be spinoffs, in the style of the first two.

I'd much prefer that to the Elder Scrolls in a nuclear wasteland approach.

    Fallout 4 - Latest News

Fallout 3 and NV were great games but so buggy even to this day. Too many NPC's stuck in walls/floor, etc. Too many weird glitches and "crash spots." I wouldn't mind at all if they would not commit to a release date. That's really a better practice.
Blizzard did that with StarCraft II (and most titles prior to that). They announced it was in production over 3 years before it was even released, and at announce they already had gameplay videos. They made sure it was ready before releasing it. When companies
adhere to rigid deadlines, you get unfinished products. I would love to see them be non-committal about a release date because then you can get a better, fine-tuned product.

I also like the fact that they are keeping their lips sealed on most of the info on it. If it were me I would have made an April 1 announcement saying that the location of Fallout 4 was now set to be Omaha, Nebraska and the theme was going from 50's/60's
to 80's.... JUST to see how people reacted before the "April fools!"

  9. Fallout 3 was a brilliant game, I would rate it as one of the best ever made had it not been for the many bugs and crashes, I'd love to play Fallout 4 providing it was less buggy and did not crash as much as 3 did.

Skyrim released in 2011. It's time for some news from Bethesda Softworks. Even if the game isn't going to be out this year. A simple "It's coming" would make so many people (myself included) very happy.

it's a fair bet that we may see a cg teaser this E3, like the bus radio and edi teasers for fo3 and new vegas, respectively. im going to guess it'll be a BoS soldier looking down on the institute, reminiscent of the opening to new vegas...or some 50's style
"visit maryland/the commonwealth" video and a pan on the institute all pristine and walled up in the middle of the wasteland.

  14. See I would love to give this game another attempt. I tried to play one of them (I think FO3) and I just gave up and moved onto another game and never picked it up again. It appeals to me because of the setting and genre and I like how it works. If / when
they make a Fallout 4, I would definitely buy it on the merit of FO3 alone.

  15. I wish Obsidian would become the exclusive Fallout developer. New Vegas, despite the bugs, was excellent. Fallout 3 was fun, but it just didn't really have the spirit of the originals. It was fairly hollow I felt. New Vegas just felt full and I felt like
I was playing the real Fallout 3.

Still enjoyed Fallout 3 though. I'll pick it up for sure.
