    Fallout 3 will not launch on Windows 11


    I am super inexperienced, and don't know what I am doing...all I want to do is play this game. I am a console user and I am now reminded why I prefer console over PC. Can someone please advice me on troubleshooting and explain the steps to me like I am a child. When I open the Xbox app and launch the game, as soon as I select play, the launch window disappears and nothing happens. Fallout 3 was downloaded to my D-Drive.

    My laptop is a Gigabyte A5 X1 Laptop. It is equipped and enhanced with the following:

    • Processor: AMD Ryzen 9 5900HX with Radeon Graphics 3.30 GHz
    • GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070
    • Installed RAM: 16.0 GB
    • System Type: 64-bit operating system, x64-based processor
    • D-Drive: SK hynx Gold P31 SSD PCIe NVMe M.2 (1TB)
    • E-Drive: SK hynix Gold S31 SSD SATA 2.5-inch

    Good evening

    To configure Fallout 3 to run in compatibility mode on an older version of Windows, follow these steps:

    Right-click on the Fallout 3 shortcut icon or the Fallout 3 .exe file.

    Select "Properties" from the context menu.

    Click on the "Compatibility" tab.

    Check the box next to "Run this program in compatibility mode for:".

    From the dropdown menu, select the version of Windows that the game is designed to run on. In this case, you would select an older version of Windows, such as Windows XP or Windows Vista.

    If you experience any issues while playing the game, try checking the box next to "Run this program as an administrator" as well.

    Click "Apply" and then "OK" to save the changes.

    Launch Fallout 3 to see if the compatibility mode has resolved any issues.
