Fallout 3 and Fallout New Vegas were working until a recent update.

Fallout 3 and Fallout New Vegas ( both installed from disk) were working fine on 64-bit Windows 10 until a recent update. I just want them to work again and would appreciate any suggestions that would help.

What is youre favorite Fallout game and why?

Old generation Fallout 2. New generation Fallout 3. Did not play original Fallout, just number two and Fallout tactics. Played hundred of hours of Fallout 3 and there is so much You can create game wise to creating Your own challenges. Fallout New Vegas
was fun, but really was no more then an upgraded version of Fallout 3. Sounds and character generation were the same from trogs in the Pitt to the tremblers in New Vegas and the sound effects in the Vegas tunnels borrowed from the Pitt. Would really like to
see some of the crafting and modding brought to Fallout 3 with a few new quests.

 

So your overall Fallout New Vegas experience was?

I don't agree, but I like both Fallout 3 and the add on called New Vegas.

New Vegas is nothing more then an add on to Fallout 3.

Everything created like crafting, modding, companion wheel, etc. could be added to Fallout 3 via DLC and Bethesda would make another 20 caps selling to suckers like Me.

Just thought Fallout 3 had a better storyline and more interesting quests working on Your moral choices (Tenpenny towers for one).

Random encounters were fun too (Mel the mugger, the death claw hunters, etc.).

Fallout 3 should have been tied to Fallout New Vegas to make an epic story line for the vault dweller, not the "courier".

I click on "Continue" and "Yes" and the games try to load. Then it CTD and I get a Windows error saying:

Fallout 3 (or Fallout New Vegas) has stopped working

A problem caused the program to stop working correctly.

Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is

available.

When I click on the "Close program" button at the bottom of the error window, the window goes away and nothing else happens.

 

Hmm, no way to edit my response ...

Before the above message, there is a warning message:

This app might not work correctly

Fallout 3 (or Fallout New Vegas) isn't compatible with this version

of Windows. Learn More

Then the program starts running the load screen with the final result as shown above.

Thanks Mister Cizi, your answer helped ... kinda, sorta. After going through all the various options, none of them made the game work, so I submitted a trouble report to Bethesda.

Hope they get it fixed soon.
