Fallout 3 add-ons automatically deleting themselves when starting the game.

So I've been playing Fallout 3 on my Xbox One X, using the GOTY edition.

After getting near to to the end of the main quest, I used disc 2 to install the Broken Steel add-on. Then, after completing Broken Steel, I used disc 2 to install the remaining add-ons: Operation: Anchorage, The Pitt, Point Lookout, and Mothership Zeta.

Everything went fine for a while, but then every time I launched Fallout 3 and tried to load a saved game, I would get a message that my saved game relies on missing content. When checking out Fallout in my games library, I discovered that, sure enough,
one of the add-ons had mysteriously disappeared. So I reinstalled the add-on, and everything worked again for one play session. However, since then, every time I launch the game, one of the add-ons has been automatically uninstalled, and I have to reinstall
    it every time.

On all but one occasion, the disappearing add-on has been Operation: Anchorage, so I decided to try and buy it in he store and reinstall, but again it has just been automatically deleted.

Although Fallout 3's add-ons are quite small, I have a very slow internet connection, and having to download add-ons every time I want to play has essentially stopped me from playing the game at all.

Has anyone else had this problem, or a similar issue? What the heck is going on here?

    :)

Fallout 4 promo code disappeared before I could use it.

I preordored fallout 4 received the code for fallout 3 was waiting till it was added to backwards compatibility preview as I sold my 360 when I bought my xbox one. Unfortunately the message has been automatically deleted without me redeeming the code
is there anyway of getting the code back, as I didn't realise messages got deleted automatically

    (๑ˆ◡ˆ๑)ノнёιιο!

First of all I do want to apologize that this has been such a hassle.
After reading the information you provided it helped narrow down on what we can do in regards to this.
By any chance have you attempted to uninstall the game and add-ons and reinstall?
I know you mentioned it's a slow connection but this could actually fix the problem you seem to be experiencing.

Here's the link on how to uninstall games or apps: Delete Games and Apps | Xbox One

Also, if you don't want to jump right into uninstalling and re installing the game. We suggest (if it hasn't already been done) a reset of the console
since the problem might be on the actual OS of the console so we would suggest a
Soft Factory Reset(while keeping games and apps).
Before resetting your console make sure of the following:

    • There is a stable network connection.
    • The information for all profiles is known (email and passwords)

Once the setup is complete it will ask if we want to keep settings or manual setup let's do
    manual setup.

Give it a shot and let us know of any changes.

Sorry, I forgot to mention that, yes, I've completely reinstalled the game and all its add-ons, but the same problem occurred.

I have not tried doing a soft factory reset. I will try tomorrow.

    Thanks.

Okay, I uninstalled Fallout 3 and all its add-ons, and I did a soft factory reset (with the manual set-up). I then reinstalled Fallout 3 and all its add-ons (using disc 2, though I now also own Operation: Anchorage digitally). This took many hours because
    of my slow internet.

    I then launched the game.

First, I got a message saying that this game needs an approx. 2GB "update" (which is the size of all the DLCs combined), even though all were installed just a moment ago. Second, I logged in. Third, and before even reaching the menu, the game crashed back
to the Home screen. I then checked my hard drive, and, sure enough, Operation: Anchorage had disappeared once again, apparently uninstalled automatically.

    Hello Catallaxis,

Have you attempted to Uninstall and Install Fallout 3 completely through disc 1?

The reason for this question is being that disc 1 is the intended disc usually for all installations.

Seeing as disc 2 is being used to update the game, the installations might not be fully synced with other data for the game.

A suggestion here as this may have to do with corruption, within the Disc and Blu-Ray Settings:

    Persistent Storage

Use this setting to clear Blu-ray–specific data that's been cached to the console.

Try the suggested for us and let us know if this works.

    Best wishes!

Thanks. I'll give this a try, though I'll be away from home for a couple of days, so it'll be next week before I'll be able to test it again.
