faint electrical noice when the Xbox is in power saving mode

This technical issue has been discussed before. I bought a brand new 2020 XBox One S, and noticed that there is a faint electrical noice when the Xbox is in power saving mode. This is not the harddrive nor a fan that is spinning. I have an electronics background
and to me the noice seems to come from a noisy coil or powersupply. Now I see a lot of complaints about this on the net and it seems a common problem. If i turn on the Xbox the noice dissapears. It seems that the lower voltage usage maybe causes noice. Some
people returned the Xbox for a new one, that also has this issue. The noice is not that loud, only audiable from a short distance with the ear turned to the ventilation holes on top. The question is, can Microsoft confirm that this is issue should not cause
any problems?

I I’m my third Xbox one s and I’ve been trying to get one without this noise the noise coming from mine is louder than the one in this video. All of the xbox one s’s I have had all make this noise

I was able to hear the sound (the dog barking in the background didnt help

) Any chance there is wireless traffic hitting the box Is the XBOX connected wireless - if so can you connect it via network cable and confirm it still makes the same sound?

I have an older XBOX ONE S and the only audible noise close by is generated by the aging fan.

Strange the only thing I know from experinece is that in power saver mode the xbox is still technically on and if a download or update happens it will proceed to do this. But if you are sure this is not the case I would highly suggest changing the power
option to instant power mode and see if this resolves the problem. If this does not go through standard restart tests and if that doesnt help I highly recommend calling xbox support and requesting some tech help. I hope this info is useful.

Very interesting, but very unusual. I had an S for a year and it was dead silent. No such sound. Two things you can do. Contact support or ask for another machine.

Instant On mode is that it uses more electricity–15 watts of power, to be exact. In Energy saving mode, the Xbox uses only 0.5 watts of power.

Hi

If the console is in instant on mode then a very faint fan and hard drive noise is normal as the console remains powered to allow the console to download game and system updates in addition to the faster starting.

Please try switching the console to power save mode to allow the console to fully shut down and see what happens.
