#FAIL Xbox Live Gold Account Membership Change

Let me preface this message with; I'm a Dad with little kids which I had purchased an XBOX 360 and XBOX Live Gold Family Account with 5 accounts a few years ago. As I do not allow them to go online and play with others, I made it a point to only purchase
local co-op games which we could all play together locally.

The problem arose when Microsoft removed the Gold Family Account.

As of it's removal we could no longer play many of our co-op games which require an XBOX Live account to save progress.

How is this fair for my children? Games they could play together in the past, can no longer be played as we now only have the one Gold account.

So, for me allow the 4-5 of use to play together is would now cost $300/yr instead of $60/yr

What give, does this sound fair?

    Points:

    We do not play online.

We should be able to play co-op locally without an XBOX Live account or simply play the XBOX 360 in a "local" mode so that progress is saved locally.

We should not be forced to purchase 5 Gold Accounts

We should not be forced to purchase an XBOX ONE which would allow us all to play locally with only one account as we have in the past

At minimum XBOX GOLD Live Family purchaser should be grandfathered in or another solution provided to those that don't wish to allow their kids to play online but still would like to play cooperatively with them without have multiple accounts

These are the suggestions provided be online CHAT and PHONE conversation with Microsoft XBOX Support:

Go to GameStop and trade in your XBOX 360 and purchase a XBOX One

Go to GameStop and purchase 5 discounted pre-paid Gold Memberships

Go to GameStop trade in your old games to purchase pre-paid cards or a new XBOX

Honestly I can't believe Microsoft reps would suggest a 3rd party to fix a problem that should have a internal solution

Any help would be wonderful.. Happy New Year everyone.

    :)

How to Turn off auto renewal or cancel Xbox LIVE membership

How to turn off auto renewal

It is recommended that you cancel your Xbox LIVE Gold Membership using the option of turning off automatic renewal. If auto renewal is "off", your membership will expire at the end of its current term.

    Steps to follow:

    1) If you are not already signed in, click Sign In at the upper right hand corner and sign in using your Microsoft account.

    2) Proceed to My Account.

    3) Click Change next to automatic renewal. Change the setting to OFF

You will be able to continue enjoying all the benefits of Xbox LIVE Gold Membership until your paid membership time expires.

    Note:

If you want to cancel or disable your Xbox LIVE Gold Membership immediately, you should contact Xbox support. Use the Request a Call from Support option on the official Xbox Contact Us page. Your account cannot be canceled through chat or email.

If you disable your account immediately, you will lose the time remaining on your membership subscription.

If you are on a 2 Year Xbox LIVE Gold Contract, and you want to cancel before the end of the 2 years, you will be charged an Early Termination Fee and other applicable taxes. Once the two-year agreement period is over, your account will not be renewed automatically.

You can cancel the 2 Year Xbox LIVE Gold Contract using the option of self-cancel your subscription on Xbox.com

How to Renew your Xbox LIVE Gold Membership

    Overview of Xbox LIVE Renewal

When your current Xbox LIVE Gold Membership is about to run out, you will get a renewal message on your screen.

    • Month-to-month membership- Notification comes 15 days in advance
    • 3 or 12 month membership- Notification comes 30 days in advance
Xbox LIVE membership can be renewed using a credit card, a debit card, or a Prepaid Gold Membership Card.

If your automatic membership renewal (auto renewal) is set to off, you can purchase a new subscription or use a prepaid membership card to renew your Xbox LIVE Gold Membership.

Renew with a payment option by purchasing a new membership:

    Steps to Follow

    1) Use your Xbox LIVE gamertag to sign in.

    2) Under Settings, select Account.

    3) Proceed to Your Memberships, and select the membership that you currently have (for example Xbox LIVE Gold)

    4) Select Modify Membership and you will be presented with a list of renewal options. If you are on an Xbox LIVE Free Membership, you can choose to upgrade to Gold Membership.

    5) Select a membership option, then Confirm Purchase.

Once you have confirmed your purchase, the following will happen:

    • The payment option you are using will be charged immediately.
    • The time subscription plan you have just purchased will be added to your remaining subscription time.
    • Your Xbox LIVE Gold Membership will be activated and auto renewal turned on.
    Take note:

If you use a credit card as your payment option, you cannot remove it on file until your current membership expires.

There is a procedure you can follow to add or change your Xbox LIVE payment option.

Renew with a prepaid membership card

It is possible to renew your Xbox LIVE membership using a Prepaid Microsoft Gold Membership Card. This card is available at retail locations.

If you choose to redeem a prepaid Xbox LIVE membership code, you will be added time to your existing Xbox LIVE membership, while your renewal settings will remain unchanged.

How to turn on auto renewal (for existing membership):

If you are already on Xbox LIVE Gold of Family Pack membership and you want to turn on auto renewal without purchasing new membership, you should contact Xbox Support.

How to Troubleshoot Xbox LIVE renewal:

If there are issues with your Xbox LIVE account, you might receive the following messages. The solutions are provided below:

    • Error: Your credit card has been declined several times by our billing service.
This means that your credit card has expired, or the information on it has been changed. To solve this problem, there is a procedure you can follow to change payment option for Xbox LIVE membership.

    • Error: 8015d080
In case you receive this error message, you need to contact Xbox Support.

#FAIL Xbox Live Gold Account Membership Change

sorry to say but the suggestions the rep told you are the only ones you can do. I admit it kinds sucks that they got rid of the family gold plan, but in the end it's their house, their rules. if you want to have your family play multiplayer they either
have to all have gold or have a One and share one gold across other accounts.

2 xbox live in one xbox360

    Hi,

Yes, it's possible to have 2 accounts with Xbox LIVE Gold on the same console. You'll have to pay for each account you wish to have a gold membership.

This process will change with the Xbox One where only one account needs to have a gold membership and then any account that signs into that console (or accounts that you make that are free) will automatically have a gold membership while signed into that Xbox
    One console.

Until you add them to your Gold Family Pack, "Gamertag" will not have access to any Gold Family Pack features.

Xbox LIVE Gold Family Pack membership

Although your existing Xbox LIVE Gold membership will work in the new region as long as it’s supported there (see the previous section, “Xbox LIVE Gold Membership,” for more information), the associated Xbox LIVE Gold Family Pack memberships will remain
active but might not work like they should.

Even if these memberships stop working, if you have recurring billing, you’ll continue to be charged for your Xbox LIVE Gold Family Pack memberships until you cancel at your My account page.

If Xbox LIVE Gold Family Pack memberships are available in your new region, you can start a new membership once you’ve changed regions.

If you have trouble canceling your subscription online, contact Xbox Support.

i think this applies to everyone who is already in the family membership not someone who transfers regions

if you had created the family membership and not added someone this may apply you will have to contact support as this is a new tool

Created an xbox live account but...

I created an offline account when I first got my xbox and I just tried to turn it into an xbox live account, but when I was trying to turn my offline account into a live account it turned another person's offline account into a live account and not mine.
Without knowing this, I used my gift card for a membership onto their account. Now they have an xbox live gold membership, not me. I want to know if I can change it to where I have the xbox live gold membership, and not them.

    help on profile

Did you have a Gold membership for the entire time your account was connected to Live? The tenure is only counted for the duration that a Gold membership was attached and it only changes on the actual birthday of the account (date account was created).
