Factory reset not working because of home console?

Hi all,

We got a new ONE X and want to sell our old ONE S

To do so, I want to make a factory reset first but for some reason this is not working. The XBOX asked if I want to reset all data, I confirm that and an error come up which says "the assignment of this
home console could not be removed" the text below this massage starts with "check your Connection and try again"

I never changed the home console settings. The new console say that I have 5 more chances to change the home console. But if I try to set the new console as home console, a message says that "Please connect
to the services first"

Is there a problem with the XBOX services currently?

I tried not to do that in case it bricked it, but after a while I just held the power button and it rebooted fine

Does unplugging cause it to die?

 

You can try if factory reset works on startup troubleshooter.

First turn off your console (in power saving mode)

Next, a bit tricky, hit and hold BIND and EJJECT both at same time and hit power button without releasing the others two. When comes the troubleshoot, you have a factory reset option, see if comes with the same error.

Seems that the problem sloved by its self. Think the Xbox services had some problems yesterday. This morning everything works without any issues.
