Factory reset a second hand Xbox 360 with parental lock

Today we bought a second hand Xbox 360 and when I went to set it up it was gummed up with other peoples' accounts, plus a parental lock that prevented me from cleaning it out. I have been on the phone to them, 25 minutes, more than half of it on hold, only to have them hang up on me while I was on hold, and everything else says there's literally no way for me to do this myself, but nobody I actually spoke to seemed to have any clue how to actually do it. So is every 2nd hand xbox that wasn't wiped by the previous owner just useless now? Is there anything anyone can suggest here that doesn't require breaking the thing open (literally OR metaphorically)?

For second-hand consoles with parental controls already on them, you will need to call up Xbox support (US callers: 1-800-4MY-XBOX) to help reset the parental locks.

There is a unique button code you press somewhere on the System settings menu, which resets the parental locks. The Xbox representative will ask for your console's serial number and tell you what to press.

I've recently purchased a used xbox 360. The seller didn't mention that they had parental lock set and didn't offer the password or reset the settings. Can I get rid of the lock so that I can do a factory reset?

Since your Xbox is second hand please do a factory reset https://support.xbox.com/xbox-one/console/reset-console-to-factory-defaults

Then sign into your Xbox One and open an Xbox 360 game this will automatically sign you in.
