Faction Discussion - Spoiler Alerts (Trying to keep the spoilers minor tho)

I'm not revealing the ending here because I haven't reached that point. The trend that I'm seeing though is that THE SAME THING IS HAPPENING THAT HAPPENED IN FALLOUT NEW VEGAS!

Available Factions (Main)

FNV - NCR/YES MAN/HOUSE who all seem to want an end to the BOS, which was NOT okay with me.

F4 - MINUTEMEN/BOS/INSTITUTE/RAILROAD

and they all seem to want the destruction of each other?

This is asking me to be in another uncomfortable place.

As I entered the Institute the disembodied voice was reminiscent of Mr. House whom I sided with until he told me I needed to destroy the Brotherhood of Steel. I was thinking to myself, "Oh no, not this again..."

I went in there with a "NO SORRY, GIMME MY *** SON BEFORE I NUKE THIS PLACE" attitude. But they played a mind game on me and pacified me.

I have been with the BOS until now, but Maxson seems to be a bit too much like a dictator.

The Railroaders are just weird and have a strange location. Why do they remind me of the Dark Brotherhood from Skyrim? I was literally about to start looking for the coffin.

The Minutemen is a good option, boring quests though. I think I will stick with them. I THINK you can avoid destroying the other factions as well. Anyone know if this is true?

Halo 4 is 1 of 3?

SPOILER ALERT!!!!!!

(Not sure if this is considered a spoiler or not but made an alert just in case)

Halo 6 is going to be the last Halo game. I forgot who said it, but I know it was a 343 employee, said that the Master Chief is finally going to die for real in Halo 6.

 

I'm only level 22, and that's just mostly from wandering around, taking care of raiders for the Minutemen, clearing and fetch quests for the Brotherhood Of Steel. I hope it doesn't play out like Fallout New Vegas, because the B.O.S. will win every time!

You playing on the X1 or PS4? The reason I ask is because a friend on the PS4 is constantly getting his settlements tweaked by baddies (To the point it's almost comical.), while I have only been attacked twice. Another friend hasn't seen her settlements
attacked much on the PS4, but admittedly hasn't done much with them. Wondering if it's a system thing or just because he invests so much time to them.

I created a main save then pulled off 3 endings. I did the BOS first, then the institute and finally the railroad. I wanted to make sure I got the 2 cheevos knocked out that you cant do in one play unless you save.

After doing those 3 I went back to my main save and am now working on things like settlements and exploring the entire map. I will not give up the endings but I will say after all that I still do not know what side to pick with for my game. Each have the
good and bad with them.

No spoilers below, just my opinion

BOS - Really whats the deal with them? It's like a private police force to me. They never really say what their main goals are. I just assume they want to rule the world kind of like a certain group in WWII.

Institute - They seem to want to focus on the perfect population. Seems kind of WWII ish to me. Plus I really hate trying to find my way around in there. If I am going to fast travel I want to be real close. Not having to run all around to find the right
room or what not. (side note- Why in the hell do I have to keep my power armor stand out side in Diamond city??? I hate that it cant be moved in the house)

Railroad - They seem to hate everyone. Getting to them was a bit fun but kind of overkill with how long it took. They are kind of like the minutemen for the synths population. They do have a rather cool gun if you play that side all the way. It shoots railroad
spikes and really does some damage.

 

The institute is ridiculously huge. I literally fell asleep with the controller in my hand one night trying to find father. Why Beth, why!?? I don't even want to go back.

 

Unfortunately you do have to choose a faction, although the minutemen are neutral if you pick another faction. I have to say this game makes the decision really tough, cause I see where all the factions are coming from and there are aspects of them I like
and don't like. Like above guy said do multiple playthroughs or keep a save right before choosing to get the feel for all factions.

I WON'T destroy the Institute. And as much as I dislike the mission of the BOS, I won't destroy them either. The Railroad bunch is weird, but I'm leaving them alone too. So that leaves me with the Minute Men which is fine with me. I will try to do most
of all of the factions missions though just for the fun of it, but just like I did in FNV, I'm backing away when they start making unreasonable demands.

I can't do multiple playthroughs. The only time I did was when I messed up terribly in Mass Effect 2 (?) when the ships doctor and I stood as the lone survivors at the end. Had to go back about 30 hours to fix it, which was a nightmare. I just couldn't
let the game end like that...way too depressing.

 

I've been putting off completing main quests as long as possible (i really enjoy just exploring on my own) but i'm getting to the point where i need to make a decision. i would like to try the different endings, etc but i think when all said is done my
characters "canon story" will involve staying with the minutemen, or helping railroad. despite the power armor, BOS are jerks. nothing interesting to me. i love being sarcastic to maxson. i dont necessarily want to destroy the institute or railroad. minutemen
seem most "neutral", or "for the people" type. (and a lot of that stems from me not wanting to fail future quests or anything).

 

Maxon yelled at me yesterday because I forgot to bring some doctor back from the Institute. I was like wow relax. I tried to explain that I could just go back and he was like "Don't disappoint me again." That was the moment I was like okay that's it, you
and your organization are going down. It's not like I could just burst into the Institute guns ablazing when they might have my baby son somewhere, right? I thought I had already explained this to Maxon, but now it's apparent that all he cares about is his
own agenda and I'm just his person to do the dirty work for him while he stands there pondering in Citadel B day after day. I'm now going to do just the opposite of what he wants and see how far I can push him.

 

I jumped ship and am now fully behind BoS and the Minutemen.

I really had to go with my gut since I only do one play-through and don't want to muck it up.

So the Minutemen want to help people...great, I'm all for that.

The BoS want to eliminate ghouls, super mutants and synths...sounds good to me.

Some people think the BoS are awful because they want to do this, but that's just flawed logic, isn't it?

Minutemen are caring, BoS have the strength to get things done = perfect combo. The institute is going down!

 

i went thru the different endings this weekend but ending up siding with the institute for my "canon" playthrough. i felt bad about killing the railroad but meh. i actually think i could have warned them beforehand but i forgot i had the synth companion
x6-88 so when i warped in they were immediately hostile. i could have gone back to a previous save but oh well.

i will run the institute with honor hah

 

I thought it would be a really cool option to destroy the Institute from the inside and you can to a certain point, but then that all changes abruptly.
