    Face buttons are inconsistent when pushing them down


    I'm not sure exactly how to explain the issue, I've gone through multiple controllers now, and my new xbox series X controller and elite 2 controllers both have this issue where pushing a face button a certain a way won't activate the input. Basically I have to push the button a certain way to get them to activate which is very awkward especially in the middle of a match and I miss a bunch of inputs or holding the buttons down suddenly I lose input.

    Is this a known problem with these controllers? Do I just keep sending them back to MS until one works properly?

    If the troubleshooting from the article I provided above does not solve the problem, it is recommended to exchange the controller if it's a new controller.

    ABXY buttons. I noticed it in rocket league as I'm holding boost down with the B button and it will randomly stop working. Playing Celeste the controller will eat my A and X buttons to jump and dash which prompted me to open the Xbox Accessories app to investigate. Depending on how I push the buttons, it won't detect the button press. If I push the B button in the bottom left of it, the button doesn't activate which is particularly annoying given my thumb rests there so it can hit the A button as well.

    The same issue occurs in all the series X/S controllers but slightly different and it doesn't occur in my xbox one controller. These are also new, like a day old and they're already having these issues so it isn't from wearing out.

    Hi Mayple7,

    What specific button are you talking about or is it all the buttons on the controller?

    Does the problem occur after frequent use or immediately when you open the controller and remove it from the package?

    This Xbox article has an entire section on how to handle xbox buttons not working under "My controller doesn't function correctly." It's a great resource to review because the troubleshooting for the controller requires understanding whether it's an individual game or multiple games.

    If the troubleshooting from the article I provided above does not solve the problem, it is recommended to exchange the controller if it's a new controller.
    I’ve gone through 9 including the latest halo edition and they all had issues with the a button out of the box, there are no good ones as far as i can tell, only people who fail to test it properly.

    After my elite 1 started heating up and fried itself i just replaced it with a white elite 1, they were the last good controllers microsoft has built.

    There are countless posts about this issue since launch and even news articles about ms investigating for years and still the halo edition was messed up, so sad.

    i'd send it back if its within warrantee
    I've just sent back my 2nd eite 2 control after the 'A' button has started playing up.
    you can see it on the test app on xbox, unless you press the button smack bang in the middle with decent pressure it won't register the press. The other buttons are fine.
