Fable Legends Cancelled so close to release

i thought Phil's goal with XB1l was to have a broad range of IPs. Cancelling fable legends so close to release, (the beta was good) is a mistake. This was one of the first coop crossplay titles announced for windows 10 and Xbox One to sell Xbox's and Win10
machines. I don't see any fantasy titles on the horizon developed by microsoft studios. Sea of Thieves looks like a techdemo with little personality. Kinda tired of the whole pirate thing which is not a fantasy setting. Apparently Lionhead studios will
also be closed.

Looks like this isn't coming out this year and instead will go into Open Beta in Spring 2016.

fable legends was going to be cool coop, but that just got cancelled and the studio shuttered.

 

Cancelled for good or temporarily? Not a good sign either way.

Looks like there will never be a fable 4 now either.

Bad move by Microsoft. I'm starting to doubt their commitment to xbox now. Didn't Phil say they were concentrating on 1st party games a few months ago?

Well they can't make games if they keep shutting studios down. I'm wondering if Rare will be next.

 

now that they cancelled a game they let us spend real$ in closed beta, i'm really angry and want my money back and im sure there is plenty of people who spent 100$s and the game was shut down before it even went live. so they had better refund us.

 

they'll refund your money they said, but still, to have it go this far, be nearly done, in testing phases, thats a huge problem. They lost not only a game, a studio, but also TRUST.

 

MS still own the IP, nothing to stop them from passing onto a new developer. Lionhead Studios as much as Im sad to see people lose their jobs they never lived up to their promises when it came to the Fable franchise. A new Fable game developed by another
studio might do the franchise the world of good.

 

Fable Legends was cartoon garbage that would have looked at home on the original XBox.

Always looked like complete rubbish to me.

Not going to mourn this one.

I think the problem what they thought they had a good product when they didn't.

You may disagree with me but Microsoft feel the same as me.

 

cartoon rubbish, so your all about the imense real graphics where i am after a game with descent playability, this had that, i am wanting cartoonish games as i am personally getting fed up of all the realism, where is the colourful fun.

 

The thing is, even if fable legends didn't live up to expectations they could have just cancelled it and got Lionhead to develop a new game. If not Fable 4 then a new IP. Closing down a studio is going too far.

Xbox is not the best selling console. It needs exclusives to keep people interested in it. Closing down studios does not help.

 

It needs better exclusives than "Fable Legends".

Amazing game. Amazing graphics... Cartoon graphics.

 

As someone who played the beta, the graphics were good, its just the art style is fable, the characters are realistic but they have witty personality and exaggerated features. This game progressed way to far, to be cancelled. i had fun with it. They
said they looked at engagement numbers (i'm guessing social and beta participation) well for one it was a closed beta, two the way they did the beta, yo had to replay a good portion of what you already did each time you started the game again, this led to
people trying it out, but then not coming back since they would have to redo things. This doesn't mean the engagement was truly low, its just that the beta needed to be reworked on how it autosaved.

Without but 1 JRPG really, and no first party fantasy games, the xbox one genre gaps (other than indie) are getting wider. This is a bit disturbing.

 

It was going to be an amazing game when it was ready to release. I've been in the closed beta for a while now and they were just about to have everything polished before they opened it up to the public. This and the closure of Lionhead Studios was a major
loss for Xbox fans.

 

You only need to compare the amount of studios Sony own to what Microsoft own to see that Xbox has no chance of competing with PlayStation where 1st party games are concerned.

They should be opening more studios not closing them.
