Extremely slow system update only 360mb

After 30 minutes I've downloaded 6mb of a 360mb console update. I'm wired and last night was downloading at 80mb a second. Why is this update so slow? At this rate I won't be gaming until tomorrow. I mean seriously it's only 360mb!

i have just purchased the new destiny game and wanted to play tonight but when i plugged in my console again i was prompted with a update. I of course excepted it and saw the 256mb update as a minuscule one that would take no time. after about a hour it
only reached 6% complete with about 20mb downloaded. I know this must be an issue from Microsoft because i obviously do not have 3rd world country quality internet because i can afford a xbox one. My question is should i contact support or is this like an
issue going on right now where the download times are slow at the moment? Please someone respond i just spent 80$ on a game and would enjoy at least getting to play a bit of it today..

 

After 10min not even a single person has viewed my post. I have high hopes for support on this one! I guess I'm the only person having this issue.

I agree, the system updates run way too slow. It's crazy that I can download a 20 GB + game fairly quickly, but an update 1/3 of a GB takes longer. I asked a Microsoft Answer Tech this very question a couple of days ago. They told me it's because the system
updates are "fragile files and stored on different servers". Just feel lucky if you can actually complete the update. I've been trying to download a 364 MB update for nearly a week now. It fails every time. So yeah, I basically have no access to my Xbox One.
I'll spare you all of the details, but it's really been a pain. Today it changed to a 468 MB update. It still doesn't work though… =)

You may just want to start over. There's really not much you can do except for some power cycling. Sorry if you know all of this already, but it's all I've got for you. Power cycle your system by holding down the power button on the console for around
8-10 seconds. After that unplug the power from the console for about 30 seconds. Also, power cycling your modem and router is worth doing if you haven't in a while. The last thing I can think of is bypassing the router and connecting your Xbox directly to
your modem for the update. Doing these things may help to speed things up a little. Good luck!
