extremely poor WiFi connection (360S)

essentially, my 360S in the loungeroom cant get a solid connection to my router across the house and I'm looking for suggestions from people who have more experience with the console.

Ive checked for interference, there's no other devices that use or generate 2.4GHz signals, the router is well within acceptable range and I have tried rotating it, no effect, the xbox sits facing towards the router, I changed the wifi channels from 1 through
to 13 with no difference, meanwhile other devices across the house are perfectly fine on both 2.4 and 5GHz, I can use my laptop through 1-2 brick walls on the far corner of the house and get >100Mbps 90% signal, my older sister can get ~860Mbps 99% signal
with her USB adapter a couple meters away from the router, whereas the xbox gets 1Mbps, 86% signal.

Errors that occur; basically anything that needs internet, Ive gotten ~6 just trying to purchase a texturepack for minecraft

Results from live test; testing the live connection returns perfect with full 5 bars signal, I don't have all the status details on me but I'm using 10.0.0.x, 1-127 for clients, router is 138, DNS and DHCP are provided by the router under the
same address, mask is 255.255.255.0, though these shouldn't matter, encryption is WPA2 128bit I'm pretty sure.

I can't activate my Xbox 360 Live Gold Account

My wifi always has at most two bars and it doesn't work, is this the problem? I can still connect but I have poor wifi connection from the router to my room

I just formatted my xbox 360s and then later on wireless connection it comes connect a network adapter, even though its the built in wifi xbox.It worked perfect before the format.

 

First off, and I assume you have already done this, but have you opened your ports to properly direct network packets?

no and I'm afraid that's completely unrelated to the problem, everything works correctly but due to the stupid poor connection quality its getting everything ends up timing out or faulting 90% of the time, disabling firewall, QoS or packet filtering will
have no effect on it.

its the wifi, not anything before or after it.

Can a computer with a wireless interface connect to the network at the same position, or somewhere within a acceptable range of your xbox?

If so, and if your interface support it, you should set up a hostednetwork to create virtual adapter on the computer that will create a secondary network.

With this network, you can use Internet Connection Sharing to connect your xbox to the internet via the computer's internet connection.

Wi-fiplanet has a good article on how to set this up a hosted network, then turn ICS on:

Although noted as a Win7 guide, the process is exactly the same on 8.x machines

 

90% of adapters that support hotspot hosting don't actually support relaying, my laptop has a decent adapter that supports hosting but last I checked not relaying, but Ill check back if I can get something similar set up with second adapter and/or cable.

a side note however now, rotating the router and re-enabling channel drift again and the xbox seems to get 100% signal, however still only 1Mbps speed, haven't been able to test yet if its actually got a solid connection now or not...
