Extremely loud Fan?

So, I've had an Xbox One since Day One Launch and it's worked perfectly sans Beta Program and other Xbox LIVE problems that were occurring. But anyways, earlier today while playing Project Spark, my Xbox Dashboarded (nothing new)
but then the fan turned on extremely loud and for a "long" time (approximately 20 plus seconds).

I've never had this before or even heard of it. It's usually whisper quiet and I have no idea what the Blu-Ray Player even sounds like (no Disc based Games and all have been Digital purchase). After hearing this quite frankly "jet
engine" roaring from under my TV I was a little concerned. At first I actually looked to see if my old Xbox 360 powered on somehow by accident. Also to note, the Blu-Ray, I've never used it so I'm not sure of the whirring noise was the actually the fan or
the Blu-Ray Player?

Either way, it sounded alarming. I want to also state my Console is extremely well ventilated on a glass TV Stand with nothing above for at least 10" and nothing to the sides for feet (literally two foot on one side and an entire
room lengths on the other). The back of the Console is about 10" away from a solitary metal stand that supports the TV.

Xbox One Update Feedback

I would like to see the complete removal of video game trailers automatically playing at the top of whichever game we're browsing in the Store -- it is extremely annoying and extremely unnecessary, especially when we hear an ESRB rating out loud (sometimes
they get really loud) at the front of each game before the trailer plays.

 

Xbox 360 Disc Unreadable Problems/Dying Disc Drive

I've been experiencing that disc unreadable thing and my S is only a couple months old. Also, all new games even though installed are spinning like crazy and making loud noises. The power brick is extremely loud too lol. I'm still under warranty but man,
10x louder than my original Pro.

 

Might be a simple problem that can be fixed by just doing a reset on the console. My console made a loud noise from either the disc drive or the fan, but like you said, it sounded like a jet engine. It did it only once and that was when I was installing
Forza 5 to the hard drive. It hasn't made a loud sound since. Needless to say, I purchased the extended warranty just to make sure...

Is your XB in a confined space within the media furniture? I have a media furniture with glass as well, and when the front glass is closed it can get a little.. warm in there, not much but a little.

If it just happened once don't worry about it. You where playing a "game" (to make a game) which is very CPU and GPU demanding. The fans just came on to cool down the core a bit more. And just for a couple of seconds.

Its time to worry if you are in the Xbox home menu doing nothing and it sounds like a jet engine.

Most CPU's and GPU's these days have a hardware failsafe. most PC do a auto shutdown if the temperature should hit. e.g 70C-85C (This varies depending on system, settings and BIOS)

And one other thing to consider, is the Disc vibrating inside the Console, thats not really good if that is what happened. When a Disc vibrates in these kind of speeds the disc could shatter, damaging the console severely. Make sure the glass its standing
on is, solid, and you can't wiggle it.

Let me know if this problem still persists.
