    Extremely long install times.....

Each and every time i install a new game on xboxone Day1, I unplug my ethernet and install off the disc up untill it asks for an update. After replacing the ethernet cord my install continues and all is welll. My problem is that the internet portion takes
in some cases , most of the day or more!. I have standard highspeed in Canada, 5.6kbs/sec or something like that.

I realize that the new games are huge, 40gig+, however, if I buy the disc I see no reason why I should not be up and playing in at most,a couple hours!

Am I doing something wrong? can anyone give me any ideas how to speed things up please? I clear cache regularly.

On another note: Does anyone else find that Kinnect is still terrible? If there is an xboxone commercial on my Television, kinnect usually turns my console on!

If I unplug the kinnect do I gain the 10% processing power that is reserved for kinnect?

Thanks to all who answer respectfully! Cheers!

    :)

    Extremely long install times

Sorry to hear it. When the console is off (in Instant On mode) it will download at a slower speed than when it is left on. Also, use of the internet on other devices will slow the amount of loading that can be done.

What I do when installing games is leave them paused during the day and then make sure that I leave the console on and the game(s) downloading overnight when everyone is sleeping and the internet will not be used should speed up the install process.

    Extremely long install times

My xbox downloads at approximately 10% of my bandwidth while in standby mode through wifi. 250mb an hour in standby while on wifi. While on it downloads 4-5 gb an hour. I just tried a wired connection and seemed to fix it. Give it a try.

No you are not doing anything wrong. And there is nothing you can do personally. Many people have complained of long install times. Personally I average around 10 minutes per install. They are addressing this in the 1408 update. So hopefully after you
receive this update it will be faster.

I also, have never had any issues with my Kinect 2.0 with commercials or shows turning on my Xbox.

Also, no unplugging the Kinect does not add more power. This has been falsely misconstrued by the media (perhaps an agenda, just a conspiracy theory on my part, since it is still being circulated despite Xbox and Phil Spencer as well as Major Nelson confirming
that it does not add 10% more power on his twitter)

    5.6kb/sec???

    Are you on dial up?

If you mean that you have 5-6 megabits of speed, ok that was fast 10 years ago. In 2014 you should have something a bit better, otherwise you need to expect to wait a LONG time to download 40gigs of data. I live in the middle of nowhere and I have 50 megabit
symmetrical fibre at work and 30 down 5 up at home.

EDIT - ookla the company that runs speedtest.net says AVERAGE download speed in Canada is 16.6megabit btw.

Thank you for your replies, my upload speed is 5.12mbps down, 0.68 mbps up. Sorry, I made an error. It just seems like it downloading the whole game off the internet even though I have purchased the disk and have it inserted. Dead rising3 took just short
of 24 hours to install, WatchDogs around the same.

I figure the disk should take 30 minutes tops and then whatever updates it needs. Am I being unreasonable? It feels like I'm being discouraged from buying the disks and having a physical collection and sure takes a whopping amount of time.

I really don't understand why it takes as long as it does is all. Thanks everyone.

    Extremely long install times.....

I would suggest buying the disc...they are better in my opinion.

My suggestion? Make sure that you are disconnected not only from the Ethernet cord, but also make sure you are disconnected from wireless while installing the game. If they are still taking too long, clear the persistent storage, and perform a hard reset.
I would guess that there could be corrupted data causing the extremely long install times. Hope this helps

I live in Kansas and all my installs, game discs, game dl's and system updates take forever IMO. Forza horizon 2 dl took 4.5 hours to dl and install, titanfall took 9 hours back in the spring....so I guess it's improving some eh?

  11. It literally is taking me days to install NBA2k15, can anyone help me with this? Back in the 360 days it took like 5 minutes to install a new game. I shouldn't have to leave my xbox one on for days just to install a game
