    Extremely disappointed with Xbox hardware support


    So I've been an Xbox fanboy since 2004. Had every single console, even bought every iteration within a single generation and have two One Xs right now. The Scorpio edition recently started running loud so I
    contacted Xbox support. They said it's out of warranty, too bad too sad, either find a third party repair place or pay $337 and tax Canadian to replace it. I said well that's too pricey esp for a 2.5yr old console so I took it apart and applied thermal paste
    and fixed it. Was quite an undertaking.

    Lo and behold, right on cue, my other 2018-June Xbox began having issues...it won't take in any disc, it turns on by itself randomly all day long and sometimes the display goes out and then comes back. I reset
    the console, checked everything...still has those issues.

    So I contacted Xbox again...first of all you can't even get an option for chat or call these days unless you cheat and pretend to be trying to contact them about billing. The console is barely 2yrs old but
    same story...it's out of warranty so either pay us $337 and tax CAD or go **** yourself. I pointed out that it seems like One Xs have shoddy build quality and that it's not even 4yrs old...can't you give me a repair option and I will pay some money,..maybe
    even $150. Nope. Nothing. Sorry your feelings got hurt bruh.

    I'm extremely disappointed. This is all there is to Xbox tech support? 1yr of support and then see ya later? Then why are we spending $600 and tax Canadian on their consoles if they start having issues in 2yrs
    or so? I'm really unhappy and I'm wondering if I can take the risk of the Series X.

    I dont understand how Microsoft doesn't even allow a repair option once the 1yr warranty period is over. It sounds like a company that doesnt stand by its own products. I was even offering to pay for a repair option and even that is not possible. How can
    anybody have any trust in Xbox products? If i buy a Series X and there is an issue where do I go? Just being casually told "well find another third party place or whatever" isn't acceptable. Imagine if car companies did that to customers. I spend hundreds
    on Xbox games from the digital store, thousands on consoles and this is the how my loyalty is treated. Absolutely shameful. Thanks but no thanks. I'm not going to make any effort repairing it myself. It's ridiculous. I already did that with one console. Being
    told "I had bad luck" is shocking for a 2yr old product with no repair options.

    Unfortunately all consoles come with a limited 1 year warranty in Canada. You can buy additional warranties through select retailers or Microsoft itself.

    You can easily request a free call-back by signing on at
    https://support.xbox.com/contact-us and selecting Billing. When prompted to speak to a virtual
    agent, decline it. After answering a few more questions, you should get the option to request a callback.

    That's the only way to contact support. However you already know what they will say. It's definitely frustrating. It sounds like you've had some bad luck.

    You said your console turns on randomly. What have you tried as far as troubleshooting goes?

    EXTREMELY EXTREMELY Disappointed in MS Hardware

    My friend got his xbox 360 a couple weeks after it came out. He had no problems yet, no RROD, nothing. Kept it in a very well ventilated area and took good care of it. Yes it's unfair, but as consumers were susceptible to such risks. And yes it sucks.
    Personally if I buy a product and it fails on me, I wouldn't go back to that supplier.

    Can't predict when it fails. However you probably didn't take good care of it. My dad's friend's son has a 2005 Xbox 360 that hasn't RROD because he took good care of it. My suggestion is to get Xbox 360 slim. It has a more reliable hardware.
