Extremely Disappointed With Microsoft

Purchased an XBOx One Limited Edition for our son this past Christmas. This past September a day after his birthday the console starts smoking and would not turn on. We contact support and they tell us to ship console in. They send us a shipping label.
We sent the unit in in impeccable condition except for smoking issue. They tell usthey will send us a replacementconsole upon receipt of ours. 2 weeks later we get our console sent to ussmashed and aletter accompanied the unit telling us the warranty is
void because we tampered with the console. This is the furthest from the truth. After hours of phone calls we were basically told too bad. Not only does tXbox console not turn on, now it is damaged significantly. After spending over $600 for the console,
now we are on the hook for hundreds of dollars in repairsand Microsoft bares no responsibility. For all we know, they damaged our unit. I guess this is how they treattheir customers.

I am extremely disappointed that this problem has existed for more than a day with no official response from either Microsoft or Bethesda. The shoddy workmanship of some companies truly boggles the mind.

If you opened the console case, even to clear out Roaches, then yes. The warranty is void.

Shame though.

 

"Hundreds of dollars for repairs" will buy you a new console these days. I'd go that route.

 

Never touched the unit. It started smoking, we contacted service, we boxed it up and sent it. Now it looks like somebody dropped the unit, the front is coming apart from the sides and the inside has a bunch of parts rattling. We did nothing to the unit.
Microsoft has the customer by the you know what as the unit is defective after only 8 months and now you have to make a significant expense to repair or in our case replace it. If my son didnt have XBOX live with all his friends I would go with a PS4 just
for the way Microsoft treats their customers.

 

Few options.

Small claims court and see 1st hand how scared of Too Big To Fail the injustice system is. Or..

Put the word out (Craigslist) that you are looking for a 2nd hand console on the cheap cheap.

Personally, I would go with option 2.
