Extremely disappointed with game updates on Xbox One

So my wife got me an Xbox One for my Birthday/Christmas. Now I loved my 360 and played on it a ton during last generation. One of the things I always appreciated were the updates were fairly small and quick. And of course optional. I always hated how the
PS3 would force updates upon updates before allowing me to play. So this makes me wonder how Microsoft could bungle what they had in my opinion nailed in the last gen.

I've been playing AC Unity which up until now has been fun and surprising trouble free. I particularly enjoy the instant resume where I can stop playing, turn off the console, then come back, turn the console back on and resume from the exact second I left
off no matter where I am. I thought that was really cool.

However today they released what the system says is a 40GB update but I've read is actually 6.5GB for AC Unity. I think that's insane for a patch. But what's worse is that I'm not given an option of installing it later. It's either install now or don't play
the game. So instead of being able to play the game I get to sit and wait for it to download a patch for literally hours. After like an hour it said "Ready to Start" it let me load the game at which point I'm greeted with another Installing progress bar.

This may not have been so bad if like Steam the game would have auto updated while I was at work. Maybe have the console auto launch and install the update so that it's ready when I get home. But it had to wait until I get home and want to sit down and play
    to start this huge update.

I was also very disappointed when I got my Xbox One and realized that the 500gb drive was actually only 360GB, seriously, 140gb is locked away by the system. That is BS considering I'm forced to install games and games can take upwards of 30gb each. I had
been on the fence about going back to PC gaming as my primary platform this generation but this just affirmed my stance as a PC gamer first and foremost this generation. I'll be upgrading the 1TB drive in my PC to 3TB or more so I have plenty of space for
games and I'll keep the Xbox with it's insufficient 360gb of storage for exclusives like Forza, Crackdown and Halo. I am so very disappointed.

    :)

New Xbox One S drops network connection when in Instant On mode

Im also having this problem using instant on, and as someone who has extremely bad internet in my area its frustrating to turn on my xbox only to see that i'll have to wait several hours to play since my games all have to update. I'm
extremely annoyed and disappointed after having upgraded recently from my xbox one which i never had any problems with in the 2 years ive had it.

I really hope gamers will take a step back...

I'm extremely disappointed with Xbox one. The kinnect is one of many reasons why I'm disappointed with it. I don't like the kinnect and I don't want one shoved down my throat with xbox one. I'm seriously debating about going back to Sony. Hopefully
E3 will give us good news.

Hi Baron! Your console can be configured to download updates automatically when you are offline. You'll need to press Menu, go to Settings, then Power & Startup. Make sure your console is set to Instant On mode, and make sure the option to automaticall download
updates is enabled. Now, whenever your console is "off" it will check for both system and game updates.

Also, you can attach an external hard drive to Xbox One, all the way up to a 16TB drive. This REALLY helps with space. I got a 3TB drive and I'm still only at about 8% full, I think.

  6. Hi Baron 164, at this moment Assassins Creed Unity has a problem were if you try to update, the game requires you to redownload the game again. Ubisoft and Microsoft are aware of the issue, and are working on a fix. For more info, take a look here. Assassin’s Creed Odyssey | Ubisoft (GB)

  7. Hi, I was just reading what Baron164 said and I have a question:

The "resume game after turning off/on" feature doesn't work wih AC UNITY?

Every other game that I let open while I turn off the console, just keeps waiting forme and I can get back to it as soon as I turn my xbox on again.

But with AC Unity I have to open the game every single time.

I have the digital version of AC Unity.

    Should I reinstall it?

I'm trying to ask here first because I don't wanna donwload over 40 gigs in vain.

    Thanks in advance.
