its a usb 3.0 external but wont let me open it nor change any settings with it.

    Have a 4GB Xbox 360 Slim and i have a question

Tell ya what, I have a $20 external USB HD box, with an old fat 32 PC hard drive in it, 150GB, I use it for media[music, movies].

one of them pre built external drive wont work, all NTFS, just a cheap $20 adapter box.

    has no trouble reading it.

external usb wont work on pc after use on xbox one

That is because the Xbox One uses a different file system format than the PC. If you need to use the drive on the PC again (and NOT use it on the Xbox One), you can use the drive management console, to erase the drive's partitions, and re-format it to NTFS
again (erasing all content on the drive).

In order to get to the drive management, open up an Explorer window, and (depending on your Windows Version) right click on "My Computer" or "This PC", and in the context menu choose "Manage". Confirm the UAC prompt, and then go to the drive management console.

Find the USB drive, and delete the partitions on it. Be careful to double check that you are doing that on the correct drive. Then create a new partition and format that for NTFS to be able to use the drive on the PC again.

You can't use the drive for Xbox One storage and PC at the same time.

Computer - Xbox 360 Using USB

I'm not exactly sure but I don't see why one could not use a USB/ USB to External HDD (or in this case a HDD in a PC). The only problem would the Xbox 360 would need to configure the External HDD (regardless of its location PC
or not) and this would render it obsolete at least in part to the Host device.

After all, one can use an External 3rd Party HDD as a USB Storage Device up to 16Gb. But as long as it is Formatted by the Xbox 360 at least that Partition of it is inoperable towards any other Device.

    the crew (xbox 360)

Well i've got an answer from Ubisoft support. The game MUST be installed into the original xbox HDD.

Any external device wont work, either an external HDD or an flash USB. both wont work, only original XBOX HDD
