External storage will not work when I take the Xbox to different location from home.

I travel extensively for my work. I take all my consoles with me to play games. When I hook up the external storage on my XB1, the games WILL NOT work at all. It does matter if I'm online or not. Nothing is wrong with the Hard Drive as the games work flawlessly
at my house. IS this some kind of DRM CRAP that my games installed on my external hard drive are linked to my home IP address? To be clear the games were purchased and installed using the same Xbox One and same External Storage.

Cant host or join a game in Resident evil 6 for xbox one? the game crashes everytime I try to

Moved files to different HD, No effect. Still crashes even on internal storage ruling out storage device error. All other titles work on the external 3tb with no crashing issues. Game only crashes when selecting Xbox live mode, Offline mode works Perfectly.
It is not a console based issue. At least for me.

Consumer's Rights

On the Xbox One game saves are stored both on the console and the cloud for easy access at any location. As for game install storage you can add external drives ranging in size from 256 GB to 16 TB for plenty of storage space for your games and DLC. The
external storage can be set as the default storage if you so choose.

There is no IP address linking going on here. If that was in place you would lose access to your games even at home unless your ISP assigns you a static IP. This is quite a strange issue though.

There might be region locking going on. Do you work travels take you internationally? Even if you don't connect your console to the internet, it can determine it's location using surrounding WiFi access points.

Could you please provide the make and model of the hard drive. Also, does the Xbox recognise the hard drive but give you an error message when you try to start a game? Or are your games not showing up at all?

My External HD only works on the USB port located at XBOX's left side. The back ports are slow and they work just for a few minutes b4 I get the message "External Storage Ready". This is very frustrating... Maybe I will buy an USB Hub. It shouldn't be any
difference between the ports, but XBOX has crazy behaviors, so who knows?

do you notice any difference in performance when there is no external storage device compared to when the external storage device is connected, or when the external storage device is connected to a different USB port?

Hi there,

if this keeps happening to the external storage device I would start to think that the external storage device might be having some (hardware) issues and could stop working at all any time soon.

I personally would get a different external storage device to see what happens when using that one.
