    External storage not allowing xbox to turn on


    I have been using an external hard drive with my Xbox one S for a couple of months now and had no issues. The other day I went to turn my Xbox on and it started up with the green loading screen then turned off again then restarted automatically. I have taken
    the external storage unit out of the USB port and the Xbox has turned on fine. Is there any fix for this and is this a known problem?

    They have already said they will be allowing external storage at a later date.

    @Blue - It should work OK with the settings as they are. I have the "turn off external storage" option checked, but downloads still occur while the console is off as the console can still turn the external storage back on if necessary. I'm not sure why it's
    not working in your case.

    Hey there EngulfedManx632.

    After you disconnect your external storage device and power your Xbox One, are you able to reconnect the device or do you run into any errors with that?

    Do you know if the missing games are on internal or external storage? It sounds like the Xbox is not seeing the external drive. Try unplugging your external storage and doing a full shutdown of the Xbox. While it is off, plug in the external drive and then
    turn the Xbox back on. Go to Settings > System > Storage and see if the drive is there. From there you can also view the content of both internal and external drives.

    USB UPDATE IS ONLINE!!!

    Looks like game external storage is not allowed, but can still read files. I guess the update to allow external storage is not that big of a leap, I am thinking that's a good thing :) wonder if mp3 will work from a stick.
