  1. External Storage Issues with Updates

Hello all, I have a 4TB Western Digital My Book USB 3.0 connected to my console.

Recently I have had issues leaving the system on instant on to try and download updates and install digitally purchased games.

Everytime I turn the console back on I see no progress and 'installation stopped' on every item in the queue. I'm presuming the drive is getting turned off, I have toggled with the hard drive settings on the console to no avail.

So now I am resorting to leaving the console on all day/night to download a few recent purchases and game updates, and just to top it off NBA 2k15 seems to be re-downloading the entire game again rather then just a 6.4gb or so update....

Any ideas??? I can't be the only one with this issue running this very common drive.

Previously I had a 2 or 3TB external drive I made up myself, only problem it stayed powered on, and made very noticeable noise all day. So I went for a HD without an on/off switch in the thought it would automatically solve that issue. For what it's worth
I don't recall having any issues with updates/installs before.

    :)

  2. External storage issues

I have recently lost the use of my external hard drive for watching videos from via the media player app. It was initially working but the next day the media player app could not recognise my hard drive being plugged in. But looking in to settings and storage
the external hard drive shows up but shows as being empty, Then if i plug it into my laptop again its comes up and shows that all the files are still on the hard drive.

    Can anyone please help.

    Hi scuderiarmani,

Have you tried plugging in the drive into a different USB socket?

You could also try a different USB cable if possible.

I also just noticed the same thing. Was playing Sword of Mordor off of my external drive last night. This morning, the update got pushed down and the hard drive is gone. Nothing I can do to get the Xbox One to see it again. Other ports. Other USB drive
chassis. Has to be something in the update.

No idea why a drive with the ability to go in standby won't work.

How do I fix error 0x80830003

Hello, I'm Felipe and I'm an independent Community Expert, and I'll do my best to help you.

Error 0x80830003 is a common error code on the Xbox Series X that can occur when saving data to an external storage device. Here are a few steps you can try to resolve this issue:

Restart the console: Sometimes, simply restarting the console can resolve the issue.

Remove and re-insert the external storage device: This can help refresh the connection between the console and the external hard drive.

Format the external storage device: If the external hard drive is not formatted properly, it can cause the error 0x80830003. To format the external hard drive, go to the Xbox settings, then select "System," followed by "Storage." Locate the external hard drive and select "Format Storage Device."

Update your Xbox console: Make sure your Xbox Series X is up-to-date with the latest software update.

Check for any software or firmware updates for the external storage device: Contact the manufacturer of the external storage device to see if there are any updates available.

If these steps do not resolve the error 0x80830003, you may want to consider contacting Xbox support for further assistance.

no option to configure usb on xbox 360

I'm having the same issue! I bought an external 1TB drive to move my games to and have more storage since the latest update supports up to 2TB external storage. It formats but won't configure. Any suggestions?
