External Storage slowing down XB1

Just started to happen recently,but everytime i plug in the 1TB WD external drive it dramtically slows down the xbox ui for some odd reason..

Ive tried hard rebooting with it connected and disconnected and same problem,is my drive messed up?

also is there a way to reformat it back to my pc ?

It was probably a given, but we now know that while the PlayStation 4 supports external storage (like the PlayStation 3 before it), we won’t be able to use that storage to play downloaded games. Xbox One supports any external harddrive, be it portable or desktop as long as it is USB 3.0 .

I wouldn't take that to the bank. I just bought a Seagate 4 TB USB 3.0, in fact it's the same one Major Nelson used in one of his videos, and even tweeted out a link to it, but it will NOT work. It always comes up as a media device, you can not store games
and apps on a media device. I get no option to format it, Xbox support was no help at all on the matter, so I wish you luck.

You cannot record gameplay on the 360 like you do on XB1, unless you're using an external recorder, in which case it likely already has its own storage system. The 360 does not have recording capabilities built into it, the recording feature is new to XB1.

Are you using an external storage? If so, try moving it to the internal storage and installing there if you can. A few other solutions I found were: uninstalling then re-installing the game or doing a power cycle (power XB1 off then back on). There was an
update to the system itself, as well, today.; maybe it needs a system update. Hope you can get it fixed.

just to be sure, are the games installed on the internal storage device or an external storage device?

If they are installed on an external storage device, please try and see what happens if the game is installed on the internal storage device and the external storage device is disconnected.
