External Storage Detection continuously disconnects and reconnects

Hi All,

I have recently run out of space and purchased a Kesu 1TB external drive from amazon. https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B07GKCQM3C/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

When connecting to Xbox One, in any of the 3 ports, it will pop up the format storage drive but before I can click anything, it disconnects. It will repeat this every second or so. Again, I have tried all 3 ports with the same behaviour. I do not have any
other storage other than the built in.

I have tried full restart and miscellaneous other attempts at answers on other forums.

Another part of this weird behaviour, is that the drive works fine on any other devices (Mac, Windows), without disconnecting.

But also, the ports on the Xbox (all 3), work with other devices, such as wired controllers.

I'm thinking about sending it back and trying a new brand (WD / Seagate), but it is weird that it works elsewhere, and other devices function in the xbox USB ports.

I would go with Seagate....that's what I use...no issues.

this sounds like a connection issue, have you double check if the cable is connected properly on both sides?

Also if possible can you try a different cable (if the storage device has a standard connection)

Here are some suggestions that might help you solve this problem:

Disconnect and reconnect the storage device: Disconnect and then reconnect the storage device. Connect the device to another USB port on the console

Restart your console: Turn your console off and on: Press the Xbox button on the front of your console for about 10 seconds. Turn the console back on and see if it detects the external drive.

Check Xbox system requirements for external storage devices: For an external storage drive to store Xbox games and apps, it must meet the following requirements: USB 3.0 connection. If you use a USB hub, the hub must also be USB 3.0 or higher. Storage capacity of 128 GB or more. A partition. Typically, drives come with a preformed partition.

Check if the console detects the storage device: To check if the console detects the storage device: Press the Xbox button to open the guide. Select Profile & system > Settings > System > Storage devices. If the storage device appears, it means the console detected it

Thanks for reaching out here in Xbox Forums. I understand there is an issue with the Xbox One S detecting the External HD.

I recommend to try the following article:
Troubleshoot external storage detection on Xbox One.

If the issue persists, try doing a
power cycle of the console (Disconnect and reconnect your console's power cable).

Try this out and let us know the results.

I tried disconnecting my external storage, than performing a full factory reset and tried to install (without reconnecting my external storage) Assassins Creed IV Black Flag and it stopped at the exact same point of 313.65 MB.
