External storage and refunds

So essentially my external storage along with everyone’s external all over the world eventually will be rendered completely useless. If more and more Xbox games are going to be optimized for series X/S then they need to be able to play on both internal and external. I’m sick and tired of moving a game to make space for a new game JUST to find out now I can’t play my moved game because it’s not on internal. Y’all created this issue y’all can fix it by either releasing new externals optimized for series X/S or update the current external storage. Absolutely hate the fact not only do y’all completely optimize games and render external useless, but you only allow one refund a year which is theft it should be as many refunds as you want. As long as you haven’t played the game for more than a day or owned it longer than a day. Fix your external hard drive problem and your theft practices.

Expansion cards are available for external storage that will work with Series S/X games. Regular external drives would be too slow so in order for them to fix it, you'd be looking at longer load times and downgraded performance.

I get that but why should I go and buy an internal extender when I already have external space? If it’s slower then so be it it’s ridiculous they optimized games for the console and decided to completely screw over external hard drives. I’ve never seen a difference in download speeds when updating my games on internal vs external. Maybe they should start releasing new consoles with more storage like the 360 days. The standard of 1 TB needs to end and be 30-40 TB minimum. The games we have now are too large for just 1 TB plus an extension

if anything consult owners have been allowed to hold the entire rest of the industry back on such things. PCs stopped allowing you to play games directly from disc media in the mid 90s,

Game consoles didn't require installation until 2013. 360 did not.

Platter/USB drives are not fast enough to load the asssets. It's as simple as that

30-40TB of storage would cost around $1500 by itself, that's wholesale manufacture prices not retail

An 8TB 4th gen nvme ssd (the highest capacity consumer nvme ssd currently available) costs around 600-800 USD depending on the brand.

If they included a 30-40TB minimum youd be looking at a cost of at least several thousand more dollars for an Xbox. Would you be willing to pay several thousand dollars more for an Xbox? Doubtful you would and most other people wouldn't either which is why i don't see that happening anytime in the near future.

It's not 'completely useless'. You can still use your large external HDD drives to back up your digital games when you are no longer playing them, this would be faster than downloading the games again off the internet, even if you had a 1GB/s Internet connection.

Old style mechanical hard drives are slow, and mechanical. The technology fundamentally goes back to the 1970's. They are just not cut out to run modern games anymore. The same way the Xbox 360 was the last Xbox console to play games directly off optical discs.
