    external sto


    Hi Ive recently purchased a 1TB external hd 3.0 and when it is plugged in I get a message on the screen saying external storage ready, then when im installing a game to the external hard drive it keeps saying installation stopped then it comes back up with
    external storage ready again this happens every 40 seconds or so could someone please help

    external sto

    I would try a couple of things, first of all makes sure the external storage is selected as the default device to install to.

    Then we should try and troubleshoot. I would reformat/reprepare the drive again using the Xbox in the Settings section, and see if that fixes it. It could be that something went wrong during the first format/prepare when the external storage was installed.

    Before we go to the last thing to try, i would do a hard reset of the Xbox by holding down the Xbox button on the console itself down for about 5 seconds until powered down. Then wait for the light on the power supply is orange before turning the Xbox back
    on. See if everything is working now.

    If that doesn't help, i would unplug it and test it on a computer, and run a checkdisc program to verify that the drive is working.

    If you have a friend who has an Xbox, ask if you could try the external storage there and install a game to see if the same thing happens, if it does i would suspect a faulty external storage device.

    Hope some of this helps you getting it up and running smooth.
