External Speakers

Hi, I recently got a second monitor. It only has an HDMI and VGA input. I plugged my laptop into the Xbox's HDMI input and plugged the Xbox output to the monitor. My laptop has its own speaker, but monitor doesn't. I would like to
find a way to hook my existing speaker to either my Xbox or my monitor so I can use it to hear my Xbox. Is there a way this would be possible?

Sound Issues

This sounds incredibly odd. Are you using any kind of external speakers, or your TV's speakers? If external, how do you have the speakers connected to the receiver or TV?

Xbox one monitor with no sound?s

Alright so I plugged in my xbox one into my monitor and everything works well as far as picture sakes.. But My dad bought me external speakers for my computer monitor but i have no clue on how to set it up. My origintal monitor doesent even have speakers
in them so thats why i got external speakers. Any help possible?

Hi there Elmster401,

You would want to check if your existing speaker has the optical audio option, if it does you can plug it into the console directly to use it for audio.

Thank you, but it doesn’t have that option. It’s only audio input is aux.

To clarify:

You have a new laptop with built-in speakers

You have a set of external speakers which are plugged into the laptop

The audio won't play through the external speakers and is only being played through the laptop speakers

You can use an HDMI sound extractor, best buy and amazon have them, then RCA to 3.5mm

To be hinest id just spend the money on a new monitor or TV tho

Hi GhosterZG,

Your choices for sound output on the Xbox are either via HDMI or Toslink/Optical out. Check out this link to the Connect
your Xbox One to your home theater system for live TV which show audio set up options.

I believe The optical out port is digital and and it may require a DAC (digital to analogue converter) as most devices that use Toslink like have a DAC built in.

You could try looking at Toslink/Optical Out - 3.5mm adaptors but not sure if you will run into issues /if this will work.
