I have a audio technica at2020usbi can I just plug it into my xbox and use it as a headset if I plug my headphones into the controller ?

Mic chat problem with external DAC + Xbox One X

Hello to everybody, I need help with a (chat wiring) problem.

I have an external DAC connected to my XB1 X by optical wire. Stereo headphones plugged into the DAC. The game sound quality is truly excellent with this set-up but there is a problem.

Previously, on my old Xbox One, I used the kinect as mic for in game chat when using the DAC.

Now, unable to use the kinect, I bought a small external mic.

Plugging the mic's 3.5mm jack directly into the controller - does not work . So I bought a Y-splitter which is connected to the controller and then connected the mic to the mic end of the splitter - still no chat.

Probably need to do some extra wiring but how? Any suggestions?

Extra sets of AA batteries and a charger to keep them ready.

External HDD isn't necessary until you start to fill up the internal HDD. I prefer an external SSD, but if that's too pricey a decent 1TB or 2TB USB powered external HDD would be fine.

A tablet to run SmartGlass can be useful.

A spare controller in case one controller starts to drift.

I'm not aware of the Xbox One supporting USB microphones however the console does support some USB web cams. To try to get this support added you may wish to request this feature via the
Xbox Uservoice web site or vote on an existing idea.

Well xbox needs to fix that cause thats [Mod Removed - Profanity]. Looks like i wont ever stream using the xbox.

Apparently you can but you need extra equipment.

Pulled this from a website that mentions the Microphone you said you have:

Yes, it's possible! You just have to buy an xbox stereo adapter, an splitter 3.5 mm cable and a 3.5 mm cable! You plug the stereo adapter on your xbox controler, the 3.5 mm splitter cable on the stereo adapter, after, you plug the 3.5 normal cable
on the mic port of the splitter cable. Finally, you plug the 3.5 mm normal cable on your Blue yeti or your blue snowball. But, don't forget to plug the usb cable(of the mic) on your xbox!

Hello Gijojo,

Thank you for posting here on the Xbox forums. In order to set this up the way you like, you need a specific setup. The Mic you use needs to have an AUX port somewhere on it. The headset you use needs to have a removable mic that connects via AUX port as
well.

So you would have:

The mic plugged in via USB for power
The Headset plugged into the controller
Your Mic connected to your headset via AUX cord.

This set up will work for party chat as well as streaming.
